Black Myth Wukong Buddha Eyeball Locations

Card No. 06·41121 · Updated · Standard formula, shown below

In Black Myth: Wukong, Buddha Eyeballs are a key item used to open the secret door in the Temple of the Yellow Robe, leading to the optional Fuban boss fight. There are six Buddha Eyeballs total, all found in Chapter 3, and this guide lists every location in the order you can reach them.

What Buddha Eyeballs Do

Buddha Eyeballs are a quest item tied to the secret area of Chapter 3. Collecting all six and placing them into the giant face on the cliff near the Temple of the Yellow Robe unlocks the entrance to the Fuban arena, a hidden boss that drops the Curious: Gold Spike. The item is also required for the “Hundred-Eyed Daoist trophy/achievement tied to completing the secret area. You can collect them in any order, but the locations below follow the natural progression of the chapter.

All Six Buddha Eyeball Locations

Each eyeball is found in a specific part of Chapter 3’s map. Use the shrine names as your reference points.

  1. Buddha Eyeball #1 – Pagoda Realm (Upper Floor)
From the “Upper Floor shrine, go up the stairs and through the open doorway. Turn right and follow the corridor until you see a large Buddha statue. The eyeball is on the statue’s palm, glowing faintly. It’s hard to miss if you’re looking for a gold orb.
  2. Buddha Eyeball #2 – Pagoda Realm (Lower Floor)
From the “Lower Floor shrine, head down the stairs and into the room with the giant bell. The eyeball is on a small altar to the left of the bell. Watch out for the enemy patrolling nearby.
  3. Buddha Eyeball #3 – Snowhill Path (Cliffside)
From the “Snowhill Path shrine, follow the main path until you reach a cliff overlooking a frozen lake. The eyeball is on a rock ledge to the right, just before the wooden bridge. You may need to jump down carefully to reach it.
  4. Buddha Eyeball #4 – Snowhill Path (Cave)
From the “Snowhill Path shrine, take the left fork that leads into a cave. Inside, you’ll find a frozen enemy and a chest. The eyeball is on a rock shelf above the chest, slightly hidden in the shadows.
  5. Buddha Eyeball #5 – Valley of Ecstasy (Boat Dock)
From the “Valley of Ecstasy shrine, head toward the dock where you first meet the boatman. The eyeball is on a wooden post at the end of the dock, right next to a lantern. It’s easy to overlook if you’re rushing to the boat.
  6. Buddha Eyeball #6 – Valley of Ecstasy (Temple Entrance)
From the “Valley of Ecstasy shrine, follow the main path uphill toward the temple. Just before the large staircase, look to the left side of the path—the eyeball is on a broken statue’s head. This is the last one you’ll likely find.

How to Use the Buddha Eyeballs

Once you have all six, travel to the Temple of the Yellow Robe shrine. From there, head out the back exit and follow the cliff path until you see a giant stone face embedded in the mountain. Interact with it to place all six eyeballs. The face will open, revealing a hidden cave that leads to the Fuban boss fight. If you haven’t collected all six, the face will remain sealed and you’ll get a message saying “something is missing.

Common Mistakes and Missed Eyeballs

The most commonly missed eyeball is #4 in the cave on Snowhill Path, because the entrance is easy to miss if you’re following the main road. Another common mistake is assuming the eyeballs are used at the giant Buddha statue in the Pagoda Realm—they’re not. The face is only at the Temple of the Yellow Robe. Also, note that the eyeballs are not consumed if you die after collecting them; they stay in your inventory, so you don’t need to worry about losing them.

Why You Should Do This Secret Area

Fuban is a challenging but optional boss that drops the Gold Spike curiosity, which increases critical hit damage by a small percentage. More importantly, defeating Fuban is required to get the “Hundred-Eyed Daoist trophy/achievement, which is tied to completing all secret areas. If you’re aiming for 100% completion, you’ll need to do this. Even if you’re not a completionist, the fight itself is a fun spectacle and gives a decent amount of Will and experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to collect the Buddha Eyeballs in a specific order?

No, you can collect them in any order. They’re just items in your inventory, and the game doesn’t track a sequence. As long as you have all six before reaching the Temple of the Yellow Robe, you can open the secret door.

Can I miss a Buddha Eyeball permanently?

No, all six are found in Chapter 3, and you can return to any area after defeating the chapter’s final boss. The game doesn’t lock you out of previous regions, so you can always go back and grab any you missed. Just fast-travel to the nearest shrine.

What happens if I place only five eyeballs?

The stone face will not open. You’ll see a prompt saying “Something is missing or similar. You need all six to trigger the door. Double-check your inventory to see how many you have.

Is Fuban worth fighting?

If you want the Gold Spike curiosity and the trophy/achievement, yes. The Gold Spike is a decent late-game item, and the fight gives a good amount of Will. If you’re just playing through the story, you can skip it, but it’s a fun optional challenge.

Do Buddha Eyeballs carry over to New Game+?

No, quest items like Buddha Eyeballs are reset in New Game+. You’ll need to collect them again in your next playthrough if you want to open the secret door again. The Gold Spike curiosity, however, does carry over if you’ve equipped it.

Where exactly is the stone face?

From the Temple of the Yellow Robe shrine, exit the temple through the back door (opposite the main entrance). Follow the cliff path to the left until you see a large stone face carved into the mountain. It’s impossible to miss once you’re on that path.
