Blox Fruits races are permanent character traits that give you stat boosts, unique abilities, and a special move you unlock by completing a race v4 awakening. There are five races in the game — Human, Shark, Rabbit, Angel, and Cyborg — and you can get a random one when you first spawn, or reroll it later using in-game items. This guide explains what each race does, how to change races, and how to unlock the v4 abilities.

Formula

The chance of getting at least one specific race (like Shark) after t rerolls is:

Chance = 1 − (1 − 1/5)t

Where:

  • t = number of race rerolls you use (each reroll gives a random race from 5 options)
  • 1/5 = probability of getting the race you want on a single roll

The result is a percentage. With 1 reroll, the chance is 20%. With 5 rerolls, it rises to about 67%. With 10 rerolls, it’s about 89%.

Worked Example

Suppose you have 3 race rerolls saved. What’s the chance you get Shark at least once?

  1. Chance of NOT getting Shark on one roll = 1 − 1/5 = 0.8
  2. Chance of NOT getting Shark in 3 rolls = 0.83 = 0.512
  3. Chance of getting Shark at least once = 1 − 0.512 = 0.488
  4. As a percentage: 0.488 × 100 = 48.8%

So with 3 rerolls, you have a 48.8% chance of landing Shark at least once. The calculator above gives the same result for t = 3.

All Five Races and Their Bonuses

Each race gives passive stat boosts that apply at all times, plus a unique ability when you reach v4. Here’s the full list:

  • Human — Balanced stats: +5% damage, +5% speed, +5% defense. Its v4 ability, “Last Resort,â€ increases all stats by 10% for 15 seconds when activated.
  • Shark — Best for water combat: +10% swim speed, +10% defense, and you can breathe underwater. The v4 ability “Water Bodyâ€ makes you immune to damage for 5 seconds and heals you.
  • Rabbit — Fastest on land: +15% movement speed and +10% jump height. The v4 ability “Agilityâ€ gives a 20% speed boost and lets you double-jump.
  • Angel — Healing and flight: +10% health regen and +5% defense. The v4 ability “Heaven’s Blessingâ€ heals you for 25% of max HP and grants a short flight.
  • Cyborg — Energy-focused: +10% energy (stamina) and +10% energy regen. The v4 ability “Overdriveâ€ gives 50% more damage for 10 seconds but drains energy.

These bonuses are fixed — they don’t scale with level or stats. The v4 ability is the main reason players reroll for a specific race.

How to Get a Race

When you first join the game, you’re assigned a random race. You can’t choose it at character creation. To change it later, you need one of these items:

  • Race Reroll — A single-use item that gives you a new random race. You can buy it from the shop with Robux, or get it from certain events and codes.
  • Race V2/V3/V4 — These aren’t new races; they’re upgrades to your current race. You unlock them by completing quests from the “Mysterious Scientistâ€ NPC on various islands.

Important: If you reroll, you lose all your v2/v3/v4 progress for that race. So it’s better to reroll early, before you invest time in upgrades.

Race Upgrades: V2, V3, V4

Each race has four tiers. The first tier is what you start with. The others unlock special moves and passive boosts:

  • V2 — Unlocks a passive ability (e.g., Shark gets faster swimming, Rabbit gets a jump boost). Requires completing a quest at the “Mysterious Scientistâ€ on the Frozen Village.
  • V3 — Unlocks a defensive/utility move (e.g., Angel gets a healing pulse, Cyborg gets an energy shield). Requires a quest at the “Mysterious Scientistâ€ on the Hot and Cold Island.
  • V4 — Unlocks the signature ability listed above. Requires a complex quest involving the “Mirage Islandâ€ and “Cursed Captain.â€

The V4 quest is long and requires a team, especially the “Cursed Captain fight. Many players consider it endgame content.

Which Race Is Best?

There’s no single “best race — it depends on your playstyle:

  • Shark is the top pick for PvP in the sea and for players who hate drowning. Its V4 makes you nearly unkillable for 5 seconds.
  • Rabbit is the fastest for grinding and escaping fights. Its V4 double-jump is great for mobility.
  • Cyborg is the best for high-damage builds, but its V4 drains energy fast, so you need good energy management.
  • Angel is strong for sustain in long fights, but its V4 flight is situational.
  • Human is the most balanced and works with any build, but its V4 is weaker than the others in specific scenarios.

If you’re a beginner, Human or Angel are forgiving. If you’re grinding sea events, Shark is the safest. For pure speed, go Rabbit.

Common Mistakes and Misconceptions

One big mistake is rerolling after you’ve already upgraded your race. You lose all progress, and the new race starts at V1 again. Another misconception is that race affects your damage directly — it doesn’t. Only the V4 ability of Cyborg gives a damage boost, and that’s temporary.

Another error: thinking you can choose a race by creating a new character. You can’t — the race is random every time, and you’d have to level up from scratch. It’s almost always better to reroll with an item than to restart.

Also, don’t forget that race bonuses are percentage-based, so they matter more at higher levels. At level 1, +5% defense is negligible; at level 2000, it’s a big chunk of your HP.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I change my race for free? No. Race rerolls cost Robux or are given out rarely via codes. There’s no free in-game way to change race.

What happens if I reroll while having V4? You lose all V2/V3/V4 progress and go back to V1 of the new race. Your stats and level stay the same.

What’s the rarest race in Blox Fruits? All five races have equal probability (1/5) when you roll. None is rarer than another.

Do race bonuses stack with fruit abilities? Yes. Race bonuses apply on top of your fruit’s stats and any equipment you have. They don’t conflict.

Can I get a race from a boss drop? No. Races only come from the initial roll or race reroll items. Bosses drop other items, not races.

Is there a way to see my race before choosing? No. The game assigns it randomly at spawn, and you can only see it in the “Race tab of your inventory.
