Blue Archive Cross Progress Steam Mobile & Japan Transfer

Card No. 06·14773 · Updated · Standard formula, shown below

Blue Archive does not support cross-progression between the global version (Steam and mobile) and the Japanese version. You can link your global Steam account to your global mobile account so both share the same save, but the Japanese server is entirely separate and has no transfer path to or from the global version. This article explains exactly how the linking works, why the Japan account cannot be moved, and what your real options are if you want to play on multiple devices or switch servers.

Background: Why There Are Two Separate Blue Archive Versions

Blue Archive launched in Japan in February 2021, published by Yostar. The global version, published by Nexon, launched in November 2021. The two versions are run by different companies, use different servers, and have different update schedules, events, and even some character names. Because of this, your account data exists on one of two completely separate networks:

  • Global server – covers North America, Europe, Southeast Asia, and other regions outside Japan; available on iOS, Android, and Steam.
  • Japan server – only for players in Japan (or those who sideload the Japanese app); available on iOS and Android, but not on Steam.

The Steam version of Blue Archive is only the global version. There is no Japanese Steam client. So the moment you ask about “Steam and Japan,” you are already asking about two different games in terms of account data.

How Cross-Progress Works on the Global Version (Steam + Mobile)

On the global version, cross-progression is fully supported between Steam, iOS, and Android. You do not need to transfer anything; you just link the same account to each platform. Here is the exact process:

  1. Install Blue Archive on your phone and play through the tutorial until you reach the main lobby.
  2. Go to Menu (bottom right) → Account → Link Account.
  3. Choose one of the available methods: Google, Apple, or a Nexon account.
  4. On your PC, install Blue Archive from Steam and launch it.
  5. When the title screen appears, select Login instead of starting a new game.
  6. Choose the same login method you used on your phone and enter those credentials.

After that, both devices share the same save. You can play on your phone during the day and continue on PC at night. Progress, currency, student levels, and story completion all sync automatically. The only limitation is that you cannot be logged into the same account on two devices at the same time; the game will kick the older session when a new one starts.

Why the Japan Account Cannot Be Transferred to Global

There is no official transfer tool, code, or request system to move a Japanese Blue Archive account to the global version. The two versions are separate products with separate terms of service. The reasons are practical and commercial:

  • Different publishers – Yostar runs Japan; Nexon runs global. They do not share a user database.
  • Different event schedules – Japan is often months ahead in content. Merging saves would break the global economy and progression balance.
  • Different currencies and pricing – in-app purchases are handled by different stores and payment processors.
  • No legal obligation – neither publisher offers a cross-server migration service, and support tickets asking for one are typically answered with a polite refusal.

If you started on the Japanese server because you lived in Japan or wanted early access, and you now want to play on the global Steam version, you will have to start over from scratch. There is no workaround, and using third-party tools that claim to “transfer” accounts is a scam risk.

What Happens If You Try to Log Into the Japan Version on Steam?

Nothing, because the Japanese version is not on Steam. The Steam store page for Blue Archive only lists the global version. If you change your Steam store region to Japan, you still will not find a separate Japanese Blue Archive. The only way to play the Japanese version on PC is to use an Android emulator with the Japanese APK, or to use a Japanese iOS account on a Mac with Apple Silicon (via the App Store). Neither of those methods will connect to your global Steam save.

How to Choose Between the Japan and Global Versions

If you are deciding which version to invest time in, consider these factors:

  • Language – Global has English, Japanese has only Japanese text (though some players use fan translations).
  • Content speed – Japan gets new story chapters and events earlier, sometimes by 6–12 months.
  • Server population – Global has a larger English-speaking community; Japan has more players overall but you will be interacting in Japanese.
  • Payment – Global accepts your local currency and payment methods; Japan requires a Japanese App Store/Google Play account and a valid Japanese payment method.
  • Steam support – Only global has a native Steam client with achievements and Steam Wallet purchases.

For most players outside Japan, the global version is the sensible choice. The only strong reason to pick Japan is if you want the newest content immediately and are comfortable with Japanese.

Common Problems and Questions About Linking

Here are the issues players run into most often when trying to link Steam and mobile:

  • “I already played on mobile without linking – can I link now?” Yes, as long as you have not already linked that account to a different method. Go to Menu → Account → Link Account and choose an option. If the button is grayed out, you may have already linked; check which method it shows.
  • “I linked to Google on mobile, but Steam asks for Nexon.” Steam login supports Google, Apple, and Nexon. Pick the same one you used on mobile. If you used a guest account on mobile, you cannot log into that save on Steam; you must link it first.
  • “My Steam and mobile progress are different.” That usually means you are logging into two different accounts. Check the account UID shown in the settings on both devices. If they differ, log out and use the correct credentials.
  • “Can I unlink and relink to a different account?” The game allows unlinking, but it is risky. If you unlink, you may lose access to that save if you do not immediately link it to another method. Only do this if you fully understand the warning dialog.

Safety: Avoiding Transfer Scams and Account Theft

Because there is no legitimate Japan-to-global transfer, any website, service, or individual offering to “move” your account is trying to steal it. Common scams include:

  • Websites that ask for your login credentials and then take over your account.
  • “Account trading” platforms that sell Japan accounts – buying or selling is against the terms of service, and the seller can reclaim the account later.
  • Fake customer support forms that ask for your password or verification code.

Official support will never ask for your password. If you ever need help, use the in-game support menu (Menu → Support) or the publisher’s official website. Never share your login code, even with someone claiming to be a moderator.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I play the same Blue Archive account on Steam and my phone?

Yes, but only on the global version. Link your account to Google, Apple, or Nexon on your phone, then log in with the same method on Steam. Progress syncs automatically across both.

Is there any way to transfer my Japan Blue Archive account to global?

No. The Japanese and global versions are separate games run by different publishers with separate servers. No official transfer tool exists, and no workaround is available. You would have to start over on global.

Does the Japanese version have a Steam client?

No. Steam only hosts the global version. The Japanese version is only on iOS and Android in Japan, or via emulator on PC.

If I buy gems on Steam, will they appear on my phone?

Yes, on the global version. Gems and other premium currency are tied to your account, not the platform. However, platform-specific bonuses (like the first-purchase bonus) may not carry over if you buy on a different store.

What happens if I log into Steam while my phone is in a battle?

The game will disconnect the phone session and log you in on Steam. You may lose any battle progress from the phone. It is best to finish battles before switching devices.

Can I link my Blue Archive account to both Google and Apple at the same time?

No. You can only have one active link method at a time. If you want to switch from Google to Apple, you must unlink the current one first, then link the new one. This is risky if you do not have another way to log in, so proceed carefully.
