DDV Anti Monster Camp Quest Guide

Card No. 06·26925 · Updated · Standard formula, shown below

To complete Chapter 11, “The Anti Monster Camp,” in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you must gather specific materials, craft the Anti Monster Camp, place it in the Forest of Valor, and then speak with Merlin to finish the quest. This guide walks you through each step, including where to find the required items and what to do if you get stuck.

Quest Overview and Requirements

Chapter 11 is part of the main story questline in Disney Dreamlight Valley. The quest becomes available after you have completed the previous chapter, “The Great Blizzard,” and have unlocked the Forest of Valor biome. To start, you need to talk to Merlin, who will explain that a mysterious force is causing monsters to appear, and he asks you to build an anti-monster camp to protect the valley.

Before you can build the camp, you must gather the following materials:

  • 20 Softwood
  • 15 Stone
  • 10 Iron Ingots
  • 5 Fiber

You can find Softwood on the ground in the Plaza and Peaceful Meadow, Stone by mining rock nodes anywhere, Iron Ingots by smelting Iron Ore (which you mine from black rocks in the Forest of Valor and Glade of Trust), and Fiber by crafting it from 5 Sea Goat Weed (found on Dazzle Beach) or by harvesting it from cotton plants.

Step-by-Step Walkthrough

Follow these steps in order to complete the quest without issues:

  1. Talk to Merlin – He will be in the Plaza near his house. Accept the quest to trigger the objective.
  2. Gather the materials – Collect Softwood, Stone, Iron Ore, and Sea Goat Weed. If you already have them, skip to crafting.
  3. Smelt Iron Ingots – Use a crafting station (or the furnace if you have one) to turn 10 Iron Ore into 10 Iron Ingots. Each ingot requires 1 Iron Ore and 1 Coal Ore.
  4. Craft Fiber – If you have Sea Goat Weed, go to a crafting station and select “Fiber” under the materials tab. It costs 5 Sea Goat Weed per fiber.
  5. Build the Anti Monster Camp – Open the furniture menu (while in build mode) and go to the “Functional Items” tab. Select the Anti Monster Camp and place it anywhere in the Forest of Valor.
  6. Return to Merlin – After placing the camp, talk to Merlin again. He will thank you and the quest will complete, rewarding you with a new outfit and a Star Coin bonus.

Where to Find Each Material

If you are missing any item, here are the most reliable locations:

  • Softwood – Found on the ground in the Plaza and Peaceful Meadow. It respawns every few minutes, so you can loop around these areas.
  • Stone – Mine any rock nodes in the Plaza, Peaceful Meadow, or Forest of Valor. You can also get stone from digging up sparkling holes.
  • Iron Ore – Mine the black rocks with gold veins in the Forest of Valor and Glade of Trust. These rocks drop both Iron Ore and Coal Ore.
  • Sea Goat Weed – Found on the beach (Dazzle Beach) near the water’s edge. It looks like green seaweed and respawns daily.

Common Problems and How to Fix Them

Players often encounter a few issues during this quest. Here are the most common ones and their solutions:

  • Can’t find the Anti Monster Camp in the furniture menu – Make sure you have the quest active. The item appears under “Functional Items” only after you have gathered all materials and the quest objective says “Build the Anti Monster Camp.” If it’s still missing, try restarting the game.
  • Iron Ore not spawning – If you have already mined all the black rocks, they respawn after about 10 minutes of real time. You can also use the “Well” to fast-travel to other biomes and check their rocks.
  • Fiber not showing up – Fiber is a crafting material, not a natural resource. You must craft it at a crafting station. If you don’t have Sea Goat Weed, check the beach for the glowing green plants.
  • Merlin is not giving the quest – Ensure you have completed the previous main quest “The Great Blizzard” and that you have unlocked the Forest of Valor (it costs 5,000 Dreamlight to unlock). If not, do that first.

Tips for Efficient Gathering

To speed up the process, follow these tips:

  • Carry a pickaxe and shovel at all times. You’ll need them for mining and digging.
  • Upgrade your watering can to water the dried sea weed on the beach – this can give you extra Sea Goat Weed.
  • If you have unlocked the “Mining” skill companion, bring them along – they often drop extra stones or ore.
  • Use the “Fast Travel” wells to jump between biomes quickly, especially to check for respawns.

Rewards and What Comes Next

Completing “The Anti Monster Camp” rewards you with a new outfit (a monster-themed hat) and 800 Star Coins. After finishing this quest, the next chapter “The Forgotten Relics” will unlock. This quest also increases your friendship with Merlin, which can unlock new rewards from him.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I build the Anti Monster Camp anywhere else?

No, the quest specifically requires you to place it in the Forest of Valor. If you try to place it elsewhere, the quest objective will not update. You can move it later if you want, but for the quest it must be in that biome.

What if I lose the Anti Monster Camp after placing it?

You can always pick it up in build mode and move it or store it. It will not break the quest. If you accidentally store it, just take it out again and place it in the Forest of Valor to be safe.

Do I need to craft the camp or is it given to me?

You craft it. Once you have all materials, the recipe appears automatically in the crafting menu under “Functional Items.” It costs 20 Softwood, 15 Stone, 10 Iron Ingots, and 5 Fiber.

Why can’t I mine the black rocks in the Forest of Valor?

You need a pickaxe that is at least level 2. If you haven’t upgraded your pickaxe, you can do so by completing the quest “The Pickaxe Upgrade” from Goofy. Alternatively, you can mine rocks in the Glade of Trust if you have that biome unlocked.

Is there a time limit for this quest?

No, there is no time limit. You can take as long as you need to gather materials. The game does not penalize you for taking breaks.
