This page lists every food and potion buff in Enshrouded along with its exact duration, so you can plan your expeditions without constantly re-checking your status bar. You enter the buff name from the tables below and the calculator works out the total active time for a stack of identical items, which is useful when you carry multiple portions of the same meal or brew. The result is shown in minutes and seconds, based on the standard durations listed in the game’s current version.

Formula

The calculation is simply the per-item duration multiplied by the number of items you consume:

Total active time = buff duration × number of items

Where:

  • Buff duration – the length of time one serving of that food or potion stays active (in minutes).
  • Number of identical items – how many servings of the same buff you have in your inventory.

This works because consuming a second identical item while the first buff is still active refreshes the timer to the full duration rather than adding on top of the remaining time. So if you eat two 30-minute meals back to back, you get 30 more minutes from the moment of the second bite, not 60 minutes total from the first.

Worked Example

Using the default values: a buff duration of 30 minutes and 1 item.

  1. Total active time = 30 × 1
  2. Total active time = 30 minutes

The calculator shows 0:30:00 (hours:minutes:seconds), which matches the 30-minute default. If you set the number of items to 5, the result becomes 150 minutes (2 hours 30 minutes).

Food Buff Durations

All cooked meals in Enshrouded follow one of three duration tiers. The exact stat bonus varies by recipe, but the timer is consistent within each tier:

  • Simple meals (e.g., Grilled Meat, Roasted Vegetables, Berry Pie) – 30 minutes.
  • Hearty meals (e.g., Meat Stew, Fish Stew, Mushroom Omelette) – 45 minutes.
  • Feasts (e.g., Feast of the Flame, Feast of the Hunt) – 60 minutes.

Raw ingredients like berries, mushrooms, and raw meat give no buff when eaten directly; they only restore a small amount of health or hunger. The buff appears only after you cook them at a campfire or cooking station.

Potion Buff Durations

Potions and elixirs have more varied durations than food, depending on their strength and purpose:

  • Health Potion – instant effect, no duration (heals over 2 seconds).
  • Mana Potion – instant effect, no duration (restores mana instantly).
  • Stamina Potion – instant effect, no duration (restores stamina instantly).
  • Fire Resistance Potion – 5 minutes.
  • Poison Resistance Potion – 5 minutes.
  • Water Breathing Potion – 10 minutes.
  • Swiftness Potion – 5 minutes (increases movement speed).
  • Might Potion – 10 minutes (increases melee damage).
  • Focus Potion – 10 minutes (increases ranged damage).
  • Elixir of the Flame – 15 minutes (temporary fire damage on weapons).

Note that the “Resistance potions are the only ones with a short 5-minute window; the attribute-boosting potions last longer. There is no potion that lasts longer than 15 minutes in the current build.

How Buff Stacking Works

You can have one food buff and one potion buff active at the same time – they do not overwrite each other. However, eating two different foods with the same stat bonus (e.g., two different +Constitution meals) will only keep the most recently consumed one; the older buff is replaced. The same rule applies to potions: drinking a Might Potion while a Focus Potion is active keeps both, but drinking a second Might Potion refreshes the timer without adding extra damage.

There is no way to extend a buff beyond its listed duration except by consuming another identical item before it expires. The game does not have a “buff duration skill or gear modifier that increases these timers.

Choosing the Right Buff for Your Build

For general exploration, a 30-minute simple meal plus a 10-minute Might or Focus Potion covers most fights. For boss battles or long dungeon runs, use a 60-minute feast and a 15-minute Elixir of the Flame to maximize uptime. If you are gathering resources, the Swiftness Potion’s 5-minute duration is short but useful for sprinting between nodes – just carry several.

When cooking, prioritize recipes that match your weapon type: melee builds benefit from +Strength meals like Meat Stew, while ranged builds want +Dexterity options like Grilled Game. The duration tier matters less than the stat bonus, so a 30-minute meal with the right stat is better than a 60-minute feast with a useless one.

Common Mistakes and Misconceptions

A frequent error is assuming that eating multiple different foods with the same stat bonus stacks. It does not – only the highest bonus applies, and the timer resets to the newest item. Another mistake is drinking a potion right before it expires, thinking it will add time; it only refreshes from that moment. Also, some players confuse the “instant healing potions with buff potions – the healing potions do not appear in the buff bar because they have no duration.

One misconception is that the “Feast items last longer than 60 minutes. They do not; the 60-minute cap is the maximum for any consumable in the game. The only way to have a buff for longer than an hour is to carry multiple servings and re-apply them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do food and potion buffs stack with each other?

Yes. You can have one food buff and one potion buff active simultaneously. They occupy separate slots in your buff bar, and neither cancels the other. Consuming a second food or potion of the same type refreshes the duration but does not increase the effect strength.

Can I extend a buff by eating more before it expires?

You can refresh the timer by consuming another identical item before the current buff runs out. The new timer starts from the moment you consume the second item, not from when the first one began. There is no way to add extra time beyond the listed duration per item.

What is the longest-lasting buff in the game?

The longest-lasting consumable buffs are the Feast meals, which last 60 minutes. Among potions, the Elixir of the Flame lasts 15 minutes. No consumable in the current version exceeds 60 minutes.

Why doesn’t my Health Potion show a duration?

Health, Mana, and Stamina potions are instant-use items. They restore a set amount of the resource immediately (or over a couple of seconds for health) and do not create a timed buff. They will not appear in your buff bar.

Do raw ingredients give any buff?

No. Raw berries, mushrooms, meat, and other ingredients only restore a small amount of health or hunger when eaten directly. The buff effects appear only after you cook them into a meal at a campfire or cooking station.
