The Azure Lagoon in Fisch is a mid-game fishing area with 17 unique fish, each with its own rarity, weather requirements, and bait preferences. This guide lists every fish in the Azure Lagoon, explains how to catch each one, and gives you the best rod and bait setup to complete your bestiary efficiently.

Formula

The catch rate is simply the number of fish caught divided by the time spent fishing:

Catch rate (fish/min) = Fish caught ÷ Time (min)

Fish per hour = Fish caught ÷ (Time in minutes ÷ 60)

  • t = time spent fishing, in minutes
  • f = number of fish caught during that time

Worked Example

Using the default values: 60 minutes of fishing and 10 fish caught.

  1. Catch rate = 10 ÷ 60 = 0.17 fish per minute
  2. Fish per hour = 10 ÷ (60 ÷ 60) = 10 fish per hour

The calculator shows 0.17 fish/min and 10 fish per hour. This tells you how efficient your current setup is.

Azure Lagoon Overview

The Azure Lagoon is located in the second sea, accessible after you reach level 50 and complete the quest from the NPC near the dock. It is a deep, crystal-clear pool surrounded by coral reefs. The water is home to both common tropical fish and rare legendary species. Unlike the early-game ponds, the Azure Lagoon requires you to pay attention to time of day and weather, as several fish only appear at night or during rain.

Complete Bestiary List

Here is every fish in the Azure Lagoon, sorted by rarity. The rarity determines how hard it is to catch and how much XP you get.

  • Common: Azure Minnow, Coral Perch, Lagoon Sardine
  • Uncommon: Blue Tang, Reef Goby, Sunlit Snapper
  • Rare: Glassfish, Pearlscale Butterflyfish, Lagoon Eel
  • Legendary: Azure Serpent, Coral Grouper, Moonlit Angler
  • Mythical: Tidal Leviathan, Abyssal Ray
  • Exotic: Crystal Koi, Prismatic Jellyfish
  • Secret: The Lagoon Lurker

Each fish has a unique silhouette and color. If you are trying to complete the bestiary, you need to catch at least one of each. The bestiary rewards you with a title and a small amount of in-game currency.

Bait and Rod Recommendations

Bait matters more in the Azure Lagoon than in earlier areas. Using the wrong bait can reduce your catch rate by half or make rare fish almost impossible to find.

  • Common fish: Any bait works, but worms are most consistent.
  • Uncommon and Rare: Use shrimp or squid. These increase the chance of hooking rarer fish.
  • Legendary and Mythical: Use fish heads or coral bait. These are expensive but dramatically boost your odds.
  • Exotic and Secret: Use the special bait from the bait crate, called “Mythical Bait.” It lasts for 10 minutes and is the only way to catch the Lagoon Lurker.

For rods, the best mid-game option is the Steady Rod (costs 1,500C$). It has a good balance of luck and control. If you have saved up, the Mythical Rod (8,000C$) is ideal because it has a 10% chance to double your catch and a high luck stat. Avoid the Fast Rod here – it has low luck and you will miss many rare fish.

Weather and Time Conditions

Several Azure Lagoon fish only appear under specific conditions. If you are missing a fish, check the time and weather before blaming your bait.

  • Moonlit Angler: Only at night (in-game time 18:00 to 6:00), clear weather.
  • Tidal Leviathan: Only during rain or storms.
  • Abyssal Ray: Only during foggy weather.
  • Prismatic Jellyfish: Only during the day, sunny weather.
  • Lagoon Lurker: Only at night, during rain, with Mythical Bait.

You can check the in-game clock and weather by pressing Tab. If the weather is not right, you can wait or use a Weather Totem (if you have one). The totem changes the weather for a few minutes, but it is a rare drop.

Common Mistakes and Tips

Many players struggle with the Azure Lagoon bestiary because they make a few simple errors.

  • Using the wrong time: If you are fishing during the day, you will never catch the Moonlit Angler. Always check the clock.
  • Not using bait: Fishing without bait is fine for common fish, but you will waste hours trying for rares. Always equip the best bait you can afford.
  • Reeling too fast: When a fish bites, wait for the “HIT” prompt, then click and hold. Reeling too early or too late causes the fish to escape.
  • Ignoring the bar: The green bar shows your progress. Keep the fish icon inside the green zone. If the fish jumps, release the click briefly to avoid breaking the line.
  • Not upgrading your rod: A basic rod has a low luck stat. Save up for at least the Steady Rod before attempting the rares.

Comparing Azure Lagoon to Other Areas

The Azure Lagoon is harder than the first sea’s ponds but easier than the later areas like the Coral Reef or the Sunken Temple. The main difference is the weather mechanic – earlier areas rarely change weather, so many players are not used to waiting for rain or fog. The bestiary here has 17 fish, which is more than the first sea’s 10 but fewer than the later areas’ 25+. The XP per fish is also higher, making this a good place to grind levels 50 to 70.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I unlock the Azure Lagoon?

You need to be level 50 and complete the quest given by the NPC named “Old Mariner” near the dock in the second sea. He asks you to bring him a Coral Scale (dropped by Coral Perch) and a Sunlit Scale (dropped by Sunlit Snapper). After that, the boat to the Azure Lagoon becomes available.

What is the rarest fish in the Azure Lagoon?

The Lagoon Lurker is the rarest. It only appears at night during rain, and you must have Mythical Bait equipped. Its catch rate is around 1 in 500 even with the right conditions. Many players spend hours trying to get it.

Can I catch all fish with the same rod?

Technically yes, but it is not efficient. A low-luck rod will make rare fish extremely rare. Use the Steady Rod or better. The Mythical Rod is the best for this area because it also has a chance to give you a duplicate fish, which you can sell for extra money.

What is the best bait for the Azure Lagoon?

For common and uncommon fish, worms are fine. For rare and legendary, use shrimp or squid. For mythical and exotic, use fish heads or coral bait. For the Lagoon Lurker, you must use Mythical Bait, which you can get from the bait crate (costs 50C$) or as a rare drop from fishing.

Why am I not catching any rare fish?

Check the time and weather first. Then check your bait. If you are using worms during the day, you will only catch common fish. Also make sure you are not reeling in too fast – wait for the “HIT” prompt. Finally, consider upgrading your rod if you are still using the basic one.

How long does it take to complete the bestiary?

With the right setup (Steady Rod, shrimp bait, and fishing during the correct weather), it takes about 4 to 6 hours of real time. The Lagoon Lurker alone can take 2 to 3 hours because of its low spawn rate. Be patient and check the weather every few minutes.
