This guide explains how fishing nets work in the Roblox game Fisch: what each net does, how to equip and use them, and which one suits your playstyle. You enter the game, buy or craft a net, then equip it to catch multiple fish at once instead of one at a time.
Formula
The calculator above works out your effective fishing rate with any net: Fish per minute = (fish caught per cast) × (60 ÷ cast time in seconds). Variables: t = time from cast to retrieval (seconds), n = average fish caught per cast. The result is how many fish you land in one minute of continuous casting.
Worked Example
Using the defaults: t = 5 seconds, n = 3 fish. Rate = 3 × (60 ÷ 5) = 3 × 12 = 36 fish per minute. That matches the output of the block.
What Are Fishing Nets in Fisch?
Fishing nets are tools in Fisch that let you catch multiple fish with a single cast. Unlike the standard rod, which catches one fish per pull, nets sweep a small area and collect everything that bites within a short window. They are especially useful for farming common fish quickly, completing catch-count quests, or gathering bait and low-tier fish for selling in bulk.
Nets have limited durability and must be repaired or replaced after a number of uses. They also have a shorter range than most rods, and they cannot catch rare or legendary fish as reliably as a good rod can. So they are a supplement to normal fishing, not a full replacement.
How to Get and Equip a Net
You can buy nets from the in-game shop near the starting dock, or craft them if you have the recipe. To equip one:
- Open your inventory (default key: B).
- Select the net from your tools tab.
- Click “Equip or drag it into your hotbar.
- Press the hotbar number to hold the net.
- Approach water, aim with your cursor, and click to cast.
When the net lands, a timer appears. After a few seconds, you pull it back and collect whatever is inside. The number of fish you get depends on the net’s size and the density of fish in that spot.
Types of Nets and Their Differences
There are several nets in the game, each with a different size, durability, and catch bonus. The main types are:
- Basic Net – cheap, catches 2–3 fish per cast, low durability.
- Reinforced Net – costs more, catches 4–5 fish, lasts longer.
- Large Net – wide radius, catches up to 8 fish, but slower to pull in.
- Tide Net – special effect: slightly higher chance to catch rarer fish, but still far below rod odds.
Each net has a “max uses stat. When it reaches zero, the net breaks and you must buy or craft a new one. Some nets can be repaired with a repair kit, but it is often cheaper to just buy a new one.
How to Use a Net Efficiently
To get the most out of a net, follow these tips:
- Cast into areas with visible fish schools – you will see small shadows moving under the water.
- Use nets in shallow, calm water; they do not work well in deep or fast currents.
- Time your pull: wait until the net stops shaking, then click again to retrieve. Pulling early reduces your catch.
- Stack nets with bait – equipping bait before casting increases the number of fish attracted.
- Repair your net before it breaks; a broken net gives no fish and still costs you the cast time.
Remember that nets do not benefit from rod upgrades like luck or control. So for catching rare fish, switch back to a rod.
Common Problems and Fixes
Players often run into these issues with nets:
- Net catches nothing – you cast into empty water. Move to a spot where you see fish shadows or bubbles.
- Net breaks too fast – check the durability bar before each cast. Repair it at a workbench or buy a new one.
- Cannot equip net – make sure you are not already holding a rod. Unequip the rod first.
- Net throws but no timer appears – you are too far from water. Stand closer to the edge.
If the net still does not work, try rejoining the server. That usually resets any stuck animation.
Net vs. Rod: Which Should You Use?
Nets are better for bulk farming of common fish; rods are better for catching rare, valuable, or legendary fish. A good rule of thumb:
- Use a net when you need many fish quickly (e.g., for selling low-tier fish in volume).
- Use a rod when you are hunting for a specific rare fish or completing a bestiary entry.
- Use a net to gather bait – nets catch more bait per minute than rods.
In terms of profit per minute, a net can earn more money early on, but a high-level rod with good bait will out-earn it later. Keep both in your inventory and switch based on what you are doing.
Cost and Durability Considerations
Nets are relatively cheap compared to rods, but they break. The basic net costs around 250 in-game currency and lasts for 30 casts. The reinforced net costs 800 and lasts for 80 casts. The large net costs 1,500 and lasts for 120 casts. Tide nets are the most expensive at 2,500 and last for 100 casts.
Because nets break, you should factor in the cost per cast. A basic net costs about 8.3 per cast; a reinforced net costs 10 per cast; a large net costs 12.5 per cast; a tide net costs 25 per cast. So the basic net is the most cost-effective for pure bulk farming.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you catch legendary fish with a net?
Yes, but it is extremely rare. Nets have a very low luck multiplier compared to rods, so you are far more likely to catch common and uncommon fish. If you are specifically hunting a legendary, use a rod with high luck.
Do nets work in any body of water?
Nets work in most water, but they are most effective in calm, shallow areas. In deep ocean or fast rivers, the net may miss fish or get stuck. Stick to ponds, lakes, and near-shore areas.
Can you repair a net or do you have to buy a new one?
You can repair a net with a repair kit, which costs about half the price of a new net. However, repair kits are only sold at certain vendors. If you do not have one nearby, it is often cheaper to just buy a new net.
How do you know how many uses a net has left?
Look at the durability bar under the net icon in your inventory. It goes from green (full) to red (almost broken). When it is empty, the net disappears from your inventory.
Do nets use bait?
Yes, if you have bait equipped, it will be consumed with each cast. Bait increases the number of fish attracted to the net, so it is worth using if you have it.
