Halloween Game Prelude Loomis Log Locations

Card No. 06·4943 · Updated · Standard formula, shown below

In Halloween: The Game, the Prelude chapter contains a total of 20 collectible Loomis logs, audio recordings left by Dr. Sam Loomis that expand the backstory of Michael Myers. This guide lists every log location, organized by map, so you can collect them all and unlock the associated achievement.

What Are Loomis Logs?

Loomis logs are audio collectibles scattered across the three maps of the Prelude: Smith’s Grove Sanitarium, Haddonfield Streets, and the Myers House. They play Dr. Loomis’s voice notes, detailing his observations and fears about Michael. Collecting all 20 in a single playthrough unlocks the “Audiophile” achievement. Logs are visible as glowing tape reels and can be picked up by walking over them.

Smith’s Grove Sanitarium Logs (Logs 1–7)

This map is the tutorial area and has seven logs. They are mostly in patient rooms and offices.

  • Log 1: In the main entrance hall, on the reception desk.
  • Log 2: In the first patient room on the left, on the bed.
  • Log 3: In the examination room, on the counter near the sink.
  • Log 4: In the corridor near the cafeteria, on a chair.
  • Log 5: In the cafeteria, on the table by the window.
  • Log 6: In the doctor’s office, on the desk.
  • Log 7: In the basement hallway, on a crate near the stairs.

Haddonfield Streets Logs (Logs 8–14)

The outdoor map has seven logs. They are often near fences, cars, or mailboxes.

  • Log 8: On the porch of the first house on the left.
  • Log 9: Behind the blue car near the intersection.
  • Log 10: On the bench in the small park area.
  • Log 11: Near the dumpster behind the grocery store.
  • Log 12: On the steps of the house with the red door.
  • Log 13: In the alley between the two houses, near a trash can.
  • Log 14: On the sidewalk near the telephone pole with the wires.

Myers House Logs (Logs 15–20)

The final map has six logs, mostly inside the house.

  • Log 15: In the living room, on the coffee table.
  • Log 16: In the kitchen, on the counter.
  • Log 17: In the upstairs hallway, on the floor near the window.
  • Log 18: In the master bedroom, on the dresser.
  • Log 19: In the child’s bedroom, on the toy box.
  • Log 20: In the attic, on a shelf near the old trunk.

How to Track Your Progress

The game does not show a log counter in the HUD. To see which logs you have, pause the game and go to the “Collections” tab. There you can see each log’s title and whether it is collected. Logs carry over between playthroughs, so you can collect the missing ones in a new run without starting over.

Tips for Finding All Logs

  • Play on the easiest difficulty to reduce enemy pressure.
  • Use the “Listen” ability (if available) to hear a faint humming sound near logs.
  • Check every room, including closets and bathrooms.
  • Logs are always in the same spot, so memorize the locations after your first run.
  • If you miss one, you can replay the specific chapter from the main menu.

Common Mistakes

Many players miss logs because they rush through the tutorial or assume logs are only in buildings. On the Haddonfield Streets map, logs can be behind cars or in alleys that are easy to overlook. Also, some logs are only reachable after certain events (e.g., after a door opens), so explore thoroughly before moving to the next objective.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to collect all logs in one playthrough?

No. Logs are saved individually. You can collect some in one run and the rest in another, and the achievement will unlock once all are collected.

Can I collect logs after completing the chapter?

Yes, you can replay any chapter from the main menu. Logs you already have will not appear again, but the missing ones will.

Are logs visible on the map?

No, logs are not marked on the map. You must find them by sight or sound.

What does the achievement give?

It unlocks the “Audiophile” achievement/trophy, which is worth 20 Gamerscore on Xbox and a bronze trophy on PlayStation.

Do logs affect the story?

They provide extra lore but do not change the main story. They are purely for completionists.

Is there a known bug with logs not counting?

Some players report that a log may not count if you pick it up during a cutscene. If that happens, reload the checkpoint and try again.
