This calculator finds the hours you work per day and per week once an unpaid lunch break is taken off. Enter the time from arrival to leaving, the lunch break in minutes and the number of working days.
Formula
Hours per day = time at work − lunch ÷ 60 (the break is in minutes). Hours per week = hours per day × working days.
- at: hours from arriving to leaving (8:00 to 16:30 is 8.5 h)
- lunch: unpaid break in minutes
- days: working days in the week
Worked Example
At work 8.5 h a day, a 30-minute lunch, 5 days.
- 30 ÷ 60 = 0.5 h
- 8.5 − 0.5 = 8.00 h per day
- 8 × 5 = 40.00 h per week
- 40 × 60 = 2,400 minutes per week
Limits and common mistakes
- Convert clock times to decimal first: 8:00 to 16:30 is 16.5 − 8 = 8.5 h; 7:45 is 7.75.
- A paid break should not be subtracted; set the lunch to 0.
- Different hours on different days: add each day’s hours instead of multiplying.
