Steam Frame Reservation Queue: Check Your Place

Card No. 06·20240 · Updated · Standard formula, shown below

This guide explains how to check your position in the Steam Deck or Steam Frame reservation queue, what the queue status means, and how to interpret the estimated availability dates. You only need your Steam account and access to the Steam store page for the product you reserved.

What You’ll Need

  • A Steam account with an active reservation (you must have placed a $5 deposit for a Steam Deck or similar hardware).
  • Access to the Steam client or a web browser to log into your account.
  • Your email address associated with the account (in case you need to verify your purchase).

Step-by-Step

  1. Log in to Steam – Open the Steam client on your PC or Mac, or go to store.steampowered.com in a browser. Sign in with the account you used to place the reservation.
  2. Go to the product page – Navigate to the Steam Deck (or the specific hardware you reserved) store page. You can search for it in the store or use the link from your original reservation email.
  3. Check the “Reserve button – On the product page, look for the button that originally said “Reserve or “Reserve Now. If you have an active reservation, it will now say “View your reservation or “Reservation Details. Click that.
  4. Read the queue status – This will take you to a page showing your reservation details. Look for a section labeled “Your Place in Queue or “Queue Position. It displays a number like “#12,345 or a percentage like “Top 10%. This is your current spot relative to other people who reserved the same model in your region.
  5. Check the estimated availability – Below your queue position, you’ll see an estimated order availability window (e.g., “Q3 2024 or “October 2024). This is based on production and regional allocation. It may update over time as supply changes.
  6. Verify your reservation email – If you can’t find the queue info on the page, check the email inbox associated with your Steam account. Search for “Steam Deck reservation or “Valve – the original confirmation email contains a link to your reservation status.
  7. Use the Steam mobile app (optional) – The Steam mobile app also shows reservation status. Tap the menu (three lines), select “Store, then “Steam Deck, and you’ll see the same details as on the desktop.

Common Mistakes

  • Checking the wrong account – The reservation is tied to the Steam account that placed the deposit. If you have multiple accounts, log into the correct one.
  • Looking at the wrong product model – The queue is separate for each model (64GB, 256GB, 512GB, or OLED versions). Make sure you’re viewing the same model you reserved.
  • Expecting a precise number – Valve does not show your exact queue number (like “#5,678â€). They show a relative position or a range. Don’t panic if you see “Top 20%â€ – that’s normal.
  • Ignoring the region – Queue position is regional. The same reservation number in the US and EU will have different wait times. The estimated availability already accounts for your region.
  • Assuming the date is fixed – The availability window is an estimate. It can move earlier or later based on production and demand. Check back periodically.

Tips

  • Bookmark the reservation page – Save the direct URL (it’s something like store.steampowered.com/sale/steamdeck/reserve) so you can quickly check without searching.
  • Enable email notifications – Valve will send an email when your reservation is ready to order. Make sure your Steam account email is up-to-date and check spam folders.
  • Don’t cancel and re-reserve – If you cancel your reservation, you lose your place and have to start over at the back of the queue. Only cancel if you’re sure.
  • Check after major announcements – When Valve announces production updates or new models, the queue position may change. Re-check your status after such news.
  • Use the community for reference – Reddit’s r/SteamDeck and Steam forums have threads where people share their reservation dates and when they got the order email. This can give you a rough idea of progress, but remember it’s anecdotal.

Troubleshooting

I can’t find the reservation page. – If the button on the product page doesn’t show your reservation, try clearing your browser cache or restarting the Steam client. If it still doesn’t appear, log out and log back in. If that fails, contact Steam Support with your account name and the email used for the reservation.

The page says “Reserve instead of “View your reservation. – This usually means you’re not logged into the correct account, or the reservation was canceled (by you or by Valve for non-payment). Double-check the account and your email for any cancellation notices.

My queue position shows “Unavailable or “—. – This can happen if the reservation system is temporarily down or if your region has no allocation. Wait a few hours and refresh. If it persists, contact support.

I never received a confirmation email. – Check your spam folder. If it’s not there, log into Steam and go to your purchase history (Account Details → View Purchase History). The reservation should appear as a $5 charge. If not, you may not have completed the reservation.

The estimated date has passed but I haven’t gotten an order email. – The estimate is not a guarantee. It can be delayed due to production issues. Keep checking your reservation page; it will update with a new estimate. If it shows “Available Now but you haven’t gotten an email, contact Steam Support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I see my exact queue number? – No, Valve only shows a relative position (like “Top 15%) or a range, not the exact count. This is to avoid people gaming the system.

How often is the queue position updated? – It updates in real-time as other people cancel or complete their orders, but the displayed percentage may change only occasionally. The estimated availability window is updated less frequently, usually when Valve adjusts production forecasts.

Does the queue position matter if I reserved later? – Yes, later reservations are behind earlier ones. However, Valve batches orders by region and model, so a later reservation in a less popular region might get a similar estimate to an earlier one in a high-demand region.

Can I transfer my reservation to another account? – No, reservations are non-transferable. The order must be completed with the same Steam account that placed the deposit.

What happens if I miss the order window? – When your reservation is ready, Valve sends an email and gives you a limited time (usually 72 hours) to complete the purchase. If you miss it, your reservation is canceled and you lose your $5 deposit. You can re-reserve, but you’ll go to the back of the queue.

Is the $5 deposit refundable? – Yes, you can cancel your reservation at any time and get a full refund of the deposit. The refund goes back to your original payment method, typically within 7 days.
