Ambassadors Assignment in Trails in the Sky SC

Card No. 06·21341 · Updated · Standard formula, shown below

This guide walks you through the Ambassadors Assignment in The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC, a mid-game side quest where you must deliver a letter from the Queen to three recipients across Liberl. You’ll need to travel to specific towns, talk to the right NPCs, and return to Grancel to complete it. The reward is a useful accessory and some Mira, so it’s worth doing before advancing the main story.

What You’ll Need

  • A save file at or after the point where the quest becomes available (Chapter 3, after returning to Grancel from the Liberl News Agency).
  • Access to the Orbal Airship (or the ability to travel via the regular airship network).
  • At least 1000 Mira for travel expenses if you don’t have the airship yet.
  • No specific items or equipment are required; just your party and a willingness to backtrack.

Step-by-Step

  1. Accept the quest: In Grancel, go to the Queen’s Palace (the large building in the central district). Enter the throne room and talk to Queen Alicia. She will ask you to deliver a personal letter to three people: General Morgan (in the military base), Mayor Klaus (in Ruan), and Professor Russell (in Zeiss). Accept the quest.
  2. Deliver to General Morgan (Grancel): The first recipient is in the same city. Head to the Grancel Military Base (northwest of the palace). Go inside, find General Morgan in his office (usually on the second floor). Talk to him and select “Deliver the letter.” He will read it and give you a short reply.
  3. Travel to Ruan: Leave Grancel and make your way to Ruan (the city in the southwest, on the way to the Haken Gate). If you have the airship, fly directly to Ruan. Otherwise, take the regular airship from Grancel’s airport or walk through the southwest highway (longer but doable).
  4. Deliver to Mayor Klaus (Ruan): Once in Ruan, go to the City Hall (the large building in the central plaza). Mayor Klaus is usually on the second floor in his office. Talk to him, deliver the letter, and receive his reply.
  5. Travel to Zeiss: From Ruan, head east to Zeiss (the industrial city in the southeast, near the Haken Gate). Again, use the airship if available, or walk through the east highway. Zeiss is a long journey on foot, so the airship is recommended.
  6. Deliver to Professor Russell (Zeiss): In Zeiss, go to the Zeiss Central Factory (the large building with the clock tower). Professor Russell is usually in his lab on the third floor. Talk to him, deliver the letter, and he will give you a reply.
  7. Return to Grancel: After delivering all three letters, travel back to Grancel. Go to the Queen’s Palace and speak with Queen Alicia again. She will thank you and reward you with the Royal Seal (an accessory that boosts DEF and ADF) and 5000 Mira.
  8. Quest complete: The quest will be marked as complete in your Bracer Notebook. You can now continue with the main story.

Common Mistakes

  • Missing the quest window: The Ambassadors Assignment is only available during Chapter 3. If you progress too far into the main story (e.g., after the events at the Haken Gate), the quest may become unavailable. Always check the Bracer Board in Grancel for available quests before advancing.
  • Not talking to the right NPC: Each recipient is in a specific location. If you talk to a generic guard or assistant, you won’t trigger the delivery. Make sure you are speaking to the named character (General Morgan, Mayor Klaus, Professor Russell).
  • Forgetting to return to the Queen: Delivering all three letters is not enough; you must go back to Queen Alicia to complete the quest and get the reward. Some players deliver the letters and then move on, missing the final step.
  • Using the airship too early: If you haven’t unlocked the Orbal Airship, you might waste time trying to fly. Check your inventory for the airship license or talk to the airship captain in Grancel to see if it’s available.

Tips

  • Do this before the main story point of no return: In Chapter 3, there is a point where you must go to the Haken Gate for the main story. Once you do, the quest may be locked. Complete the Ambassadors Assignment before that.
  • Combine with other side quests: While traveling to Ruan and Zeiss, check the Bracer Boards in those towns. There are often other side quests in the same areas that you can complete in the same trip, saving time.
  • Use the Orbal Airship if you have it: If you’ve unlocked the airship (by completing the main story up to a certain point), it makes travel much faster. If not, the regular airship network is still faster than walking.
  • Save before starting: It’s a long quest with multiple travel segments. Save your game before leaving Grancel so you can reload if you make a mistake or get stuck.

Troubleshooting

  • Quest not appearing on the Bracer Board: Make sure you are in Chapter 3 and have completed the main story event that unlocks side quests (usually after returning from the Liberl News Agency). If it’s still not there, talk to Queen Alicia directly; sometimes the quest is given personally, not via the board.
  • Can’t find General Morgan: He might be in a different part of the military base. Check the map or talk to soldiers to find his current location. He is usually in his office, but occasionally he’s in the training grounds.
  • Can’t find Mayor Klaus: He might be in the Ruan City Hall, but if he’s not there, check the nearby plaza or the inn. Sometimes he’s attending to city matters.
  • Can’t find Professor Russell: He is usually in his lab, but if he’s not, check the factory’s lower floors or the nearby guild. He might be working on a project elsewhere.
  • Delivered all letters but no reward: Make sure you actually talked to Queen Alicia after delivering the last letter. If you did and still no reward, check your Bracer Notebook to see if the quest is marked as complete. If not, you may have missed one of the recipients—re-check each location.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I do this quest after Chapter 3? No, the Ambassadors Assignment is exclusive to Chapter 3. If you miss it, you cannot do it later in the game.
  • What is the reward for completing it? You get the Royal Seal accessory (DEF+10, ADF+10) and 5000 Mira. The accessory is useful for the mid-game.
  • Do I need to deliver the letters in a specific order? No, you can deliver them in any order. The quest only requires that you deliver all three before returning to the Queen.
  • Can I fast travel? There is no fast travel in the traditional sense, but you can use the airship network (or the Orbal Airship if unlocked) to move between cities quickly.
  • What if I accidentally sold the letter? The letter is a key item and cannot be sold. It will remain in your inventory until you deliver it.
  • Is this quest required for 100% completion? Yes, it counts toward the Bracer Notebook’s quest completion. Missing it will prevent you from getting the highest rank at the end of the game.
