Steam Replay is an annual summary that shows your gaming stats for the year—hours played, top games, achievements, and more. This guide explains how to view your Steam Replay, what data it includes, and how to share it. You’ll need a Steam account with at least some playtime in the current year.
What You’ll Need
- A Steam account with games played in the current year
- Access to the Steam website or the Steam desktop client
- An internet connection
Step-by-Step
- Open the Steam Replay page. Go to
store.steampowered.com/replayin your web browser. This is the official page that hosts your yearly replay. You can also find a link on the Steam store homepage during the replay season (usually December–January). - Log in to your Steam account. If you aren’t already logged in, click the “Login” button at the top right of the page. Enter your Steam account name and password. If you have Steam Guard enabled, complete the two-factor authentication prompt.
- Select the year. The replay page defaults to the most recent year. If you want to see a previous year (e.g., 2023), look for a year selector near the top of the page. Click it and choose the year you want.
- Wait for the replay to load. Steam generates your replay on the fly. This may take a few seconds, especially if you have a lot of playtime. Do not close the page while it’s loading.
- Scroll through your stats. Once loaded, you’ll see a visual summary. Scroll down to see: total hours played, number of games played, top games by hours, monthly playtime breakdown, achievements earned, and more. Some sections are interactive—hover over charts to see details.
- Share your replay. At the bottom of the replay, you’ll find a “Share” button. Click it to get a link or use the provided social media buttons to post your replay on Twitter, Facebook, or other platforms. You can also download an image of your replay summary.
- Access via the Steam client (optional). If you prefer the desktop app, open Steam and go to your profile. Look for a “Replay” tab or a banner advertising the replay. Click it to open the same page in your browser.
Common Mistakes
- Checking too early. Steam Replay is only available after the year ends (usually early January). If you try in November, you’ll see a message that the replay isn’t ready yet.
- Not logging in. The replay page shows a generic message if you’re not logged in. Make sure you’re logged in to the correct account—especially if you have multiple accounts.
- Expecting real-time data. The replay is a snapshot. It may not include games played in the last few days of the year. Valve typically updates it once.
- Confusing Steam Replay with Steam Year in Review. Steam Replay is the official name. Some third-party sites use “Year in Review” but they’re not official.
Tips
- Use the share link. The share link is unique to your profile and shows your stats to anyone who clicks it. You can post it on social media or send it to friends.
- Check your profile privacy. If your Steam profile is private, your replay may not be visible to others via the share link. To make it public, go to your profile settings and set “Game Details” to public.
- Compare with friends. You can view friends’ replays if they’ve shared them. This is a fun way to compare playtime and top games.
- Look for hidden stats. The replay includes stats like “Games played” and “Achievements,” but also “Playtime by game” and “Monthly breakdown.” Scroll slowly to catch all of them.
Troubleshooting
Replay page shows “No games played” or “Replay not available.” This usually means you haven’t played any games in the selected year, or your playtime is private. Check your privacy settings: go to your profile, click “Edit Profile,” then “Privacy Settings,” and set “Game Details” to public. Also ensure you have at least one game with recorded playtime.
Page loads but shows a blank screen. Try clearing your browser cache and cookies, or use a different browser. Disable ad blockers or extensions that might interfere. If it still fails, try the Steam client method or use a private/incognito window.
Replay doesn’t show current year. If it’s January or later and you still see last year’s replay, refresh the page. Sometimes the new year’s replay takes a few extra days to appear.
Share link doesn’t work. If your profile is private, the link will show an error to others. Change your profile privacy to public (or at least “Game Details” to public) and try again.
Steam says “Replay generation failed.” This is rare. Wait a few hours and try again. If it persists, contact Steam Support, but know that replays are generated automatically and support may not be able to force one.
Frequently Asked Questions
When does Steam Replay come out? Steam Replay for a given year is typically released in early January of the following year. For example, the 2024 replay became available around January 2025.
Do I need to do anything to get my replay? No, it’s automatic. You just need to have played games on Steam during that year. The replay is generated from your playtime data.
Can I see my replay from previous years? Yes, you can select the year on the replay page. However, replays are only available for years that Valve has supported (starting from 2022).
Why doesn’t my replay show all my playtime? The replay uses data from your Steam profile. If you’ve set your playtime to private, it may be excluded. Also, games played offline or on a different account won’t be included.
Can I share my replay without making my profile public? Yes, you can share the link, but the viewer will only see the stats if your profile is public. If you don’t want to make your whole profile public, you can set “Game Details” to public while keeping other sections private.
Is Steam Replay available on mobile? Yes, you can open the replay page in your mobile browser. The layout is responsive, and you can share it from your phone.
