Best Hulu Comedy Movies to Watch in June

For June, the best Hulu comedy movies to watch are a mix of recent releases and classic favorites, including Poor Things, Quiz Lady, and Bottoms. This guide highlights the top comedic titles currently streaming, what makes each worth your time, and how to find more based on your mood.

Why Hulu Is a Comedy Powerhouse

Hulu has quietly built one of the strongest comedy libraries among streaming services. Unlike Netflix, which cycles titles rapidly, Hulu maintains a deep catalog of both original comedies and licensed films from studios like Searchlight Pictures and 20th Century Studios. This means you can often find award-winning indie comedies alongside mainstream blockbusters. In June, the service refreshes its lineup with new additions, making it a prime month for comedy fans. Whether you prefer dark humor, rom-coms, or absurdist satire, Hulu’s rotating selection offers something fresh.

Top Comedy Picks Streaming This June

Here are some of the most notable comedy movies available on Hulu in June, chosen for their critical acclaim, audience popularity, or unique appeal:

Poor Things – A visually stunning, darkly comic adventure starring Emma Stone. It’s a feminist Frankenstein tale that blends Victorian aesthetics with modern humor. Not for the faint of heart, but a must-watch for fans of eccentric comedy.
Quiz Lady – An original Hulu film about a woman obsessed with game shows who must reunite with her chaotic sister to save their family home. It’s a heartwarming buddy comedy with sharp writing.
Bottoms – A raunchy, high-school satire that flips the teen sex comedy genre. Two unpopular girls start a fight club to hook up with cheerleaders, leading to absurd and hilarious results. It’s one of the most talked-about comedies of recent years.
The Binge – A dystopian comedy set in a future where all drugs are illegal except for one night a year. It’s a fun, low-stakes romp if you enjoy stoner humor.
Vacation Friends – A buddy comedy about a straight-laced couple who befriend a wild pair on vacation, only to have them crash their wedding. It’s predictable but delivers consistent laughs.

These titles represent a range of subgenres, so you can pick based on whether you want something smart, silly, or heartfelt.

How to Find New Comedy Arrivals

Hulu’s interface isn’t always intuitive for discovering new movies. To find fresh comedy additions, follow these steps:

Go to the “Movies” tab on the Hulu homepage.
Select the “Comedy” genre from the list of categories.
Sort by “Newly Added” using the dropdown menu at the top of the page.
Check the “Coming Soon” section to see what’s arriving later in the month.

You can also use the search bar to type specific titles you’ve heard about. Hulu often adds films on the first of the month, so checking early gives you the best view of the new lineup.

What Makes a Great Comedy Movie?

Comedy is subjective, but certain elements make a film more likely to resonate. Strong writing is the foundation—jokes need setup and payoff. Character chemistry is equally important; think of the dynamic between Awkwafina and Sandra Oh in Quiz Lady. Timing and pacing matter too. A great comedy knows when to let a scene breathe and when to cut. For June, look for films that balance humor with heart, as those tend to have more lasting appeal. If you’re unsure, check reviews on Rotten Tomatoes or Metacritic, but remember that audience scores can differ from critics.

Common Problems When Streaming Hulu Comedies

Even with a great selection, you might run into issues. The most common is that a movie you want to watch isn’t available in your region due to licensing. Hulu’s library varies by country, so a title available in the U.S. might not be in the U.K. or Canada. Another issue is that Hulu’s “Comedy” category sometimes mixes in dramedies or romantic comedies that aren’t purely funny. To avoid this, read the synopsis and look at the genre tags. Finally, buffering or playback errors can ruin a movie night. Check your internet speed, restart the app, or lower the streaming quality if needed.

How to Choose the Right Comedy for Your Mood

With so many options, here’s a quick guide to picking a comedy based on your mood:

If you want smart, quirky humor: Choose Poor Things or Bottoms.
If you’re in the mood for a feel-good buddy comedy: Try Quiz Lady or Vacation Friends.
If you want something light and silly: Go for The Binge or Vacation Friends.
If you prefer dark satire: Poor Things is your best bet.

You can also look at the cast. If you like a particular actor, search their name on Hulu to find other movies they’ve starred in.

Alternatives to Hulu for Comedy Movies

If Hulu’s selection doesn’t satisfy your comedy craving, consider these alternatives:

Netflix – Has a large library of original comedies, including hit films like Murder Mystery and Eurovision.
Amazon Prime Video – Offers a mix of classic and new comedies, often included with your Prime membership.
Peacock – A great choice for classic sitcoms and comedy films from Universal’s catalog.
HBO Max – Known for high-quality original comedies and a strong selection of classic films.

Each service has its strengths, so you might want to rotate between them based on what you’re in the mood for.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are all Hulu comedy movies included with the base subscription?

Most are, but some newer releases might be under “Premium Add-ons” or require an additional rental fee. Check the movie’s page for a “Included with Hulu” label. If you see a price, it’s not part of the base plan.

How often does Hulu add new comedy movies?

Hulu updates its library monthly, with the biggest influx typically on the first of the month. However, new titles can be added throughout the month, especially if they are Hulu originals.

Can I download Hulu comedy movies to watch offline?

Yes, but only if you have the ad-free plan. Hulu allows downloads on mobile devices for offline viewing, but the feature is not available on the ad-supported tier.

Why did a comedy movie I was watching disappear from Hulu?

Licensing agreements expire, so titles are removed periodically. Hulu typically announces which titles are leaving at the end of the month, so you can plan accordingly. Check the “Last Chance” section before the month ends.

Does Hulu have classic comedy movies from the 80s and 90s?

Yes, Hulu has a rotating selection of classic comedies, including films like Clueless and Office Space. Use the “Classics” filter under the Comedy category to find them.
