Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s best weapons are the Master’s Halberd for raw polearm damage, the Duelling Longsword for versatility, and the Ranyek’s Sabre for early-to-mid game slashing. This guide covers the top weapon types, specific named weapons, and how to choose based on your combat style and stats.

Formula

The calculator above is a general pace and speed converter, useful for planning travel in KCD2’s world (e.g., how long to ride from Trosky to Kuttenberg). The formula is:

Pace (min/km) = Total Time (min) ÷ Distance (km)
Speed (km/h) = Distance (km) ÷ (Total Time (min) ÷ 60)

Variables: t = total time in minutes, d = distance in kilometers. The outputs are your average pace per kilometer and average speed in kilometers per hour.

Worked Example

Using the defaults: you ride for 50 minutes and cover 10 km.

  • Pace = 50 ÷ 10 = 5.00 min/km
  • Speed = 10 ÷ (50 ÷ 60) = 10 ÷ 0.8333 = 12.00 km/h

The calculator shows an average pace of 5:00 min/km and a speed of 12.00 km/h.

Weapon Types Overview

KCD2 features five main weapon categories: swords (short and long), axes, maces, polearms, and bows. Each has distinct animations, reach, and damage profiles. Swords are fastest and have combo potential; axes balance speed and power; maces crush armor; polearms offer reach but are slow and can be broken; bows are for ranged combat.

Your choice should align with your Henry’s stats: Strength, Agility, and Warfare. Swords scale with Agility, axes and maces with Strength, and polearms use both. A high Strength character will get more from a heavy mace than a light sword.

Top Named Weapons

  • Master’s Halberd – Best-in-slot polearm, found in a chest in the Trosky region. Requires 15 Strength and 10 Agility. Deals massive slash and stab damage, but can be broken if you block too much.
  • Duelling Longsword – The best longsword for most players. Found in a bandit camp near the Zhelejov forge. High slash damage, good balance, and available mid-game.
  • Ranyek’s Sabre – A unique short sword with high slash and stab, great for Agility builds. Obtained during the “For Whom the Bell Tolls” quest.
  • Ceremonial Mace – Top blunt weapon, excellent against armored knights. Found in a chest in the Kuttenberg region. Requires 18 Strength.
  • Heavy War Axe – Reliable and strong, good for Strength builds. Can be bought from weaponsmiths in Kuttenberg.

How to Choose Your Weapon

Consider your playstyle and current stats:

  • If you prefer fast combos and parries: go with a short sword or sabre. They are quick and let you chain hits.
  • If you want a balance of speed and damage: a longsword or axe is the sweet spot.
  • If you fight heavily armored enemies: a mace or war hammer ignores a lot of armor. Blunt damage is king against plate.
  • If you like keeping distance: a polearm (halberd, glaive) gives reach but leaves you vulnerable if an enemy closes in.

Also check the weapon’s required stats. If you lack the Strength or Agility, you’ll swing slower and deal less damage. Level up relevant skills first.

Common Mistakes

One frequent error is ignoring weapon durability. A damaged weapon deals far less damage and can break mid-combat. Always carry a repair kit or visit a blacksmith. Another mistake is using a slash-focused sword against a knight in full plate – you’ll bounce off. Switch to a mace or use a stab attack to the face. Finally, don’t neglect your Warfare skill; it governs all melee damage, so a high-level Henry with a basic weapon often outperforms a low-level Henry with a legendary one.

Comparisons: Sword vs. Mace vs. Polearm

Swords are the most versatile: fast, good for combos, and effective against unarmored or lightly armored foes. They struggle against heavy plate. Maces are slower but crush armor, making them ideal for late-game bandits and Cumans in plate. Polearms have the longest reach and highest raw damage, but they are slow, can be dodged easily, and break if you block too much. For most players, a longsword is the best all-rounder; for min-maxing against armor, a mace; for pure damage, a polearm.

Costs and Acquisition

Weapons can be bought from blacksmiths, found in chests, or looted from enemies. Named weapons are usually in fixed locations; generic high-tier weapons (e.g., “Noble’s Sword”) can be bought for several hundred groschen. Repair costs scale with damage; a fully broken Master’s Halberd can cost over 200 groschen to fix. Early on, looting and repairing is cheaper than buying. There is no in-game economy guide, but selling looted armor and weapons funds your upgrades.

Safety and Maintenance

Keep your weapon in good condition. A weapon at 50% durability deals roughly half damage. Use a repair kit (tailor’s kit for clothes, blacksmith’s kit for weapons) or visit a blacksmith. Also, ensure Henry’s stats meet the weapon’s requirements – using a weapon above your skill level gives a penalty. Finally, practice with your chosen weapon type to unlock combos and master strikes, which are essential for hard fights.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the single highest-damage weapon in KCD2?

The Master’s Halberd has the highest raw damage stat among all weapons, especially its stab attack. However, its slow speed and fragility mean it’s not always the best in practice. For a more reliable pick, the Duelling Longsword offers the best balance.

Are polearms worth using?

Yes, but with caveats. They have unmatched reach and damage, and you can keep enemies at bay. The downside is they break quickly if you block, and you cannot use a shield. They are excellent for one-on-one duels or when you have space, but risky in tight spaces or against multiple enemies.

Do I need a shield?

Not necessarily. A shield adds defense and lets you block more easily, but it slows your attacks and prevents two-handed weapon use. Many players prefer a longsword in both hands for faster combos and master strikes. Shields are great for mace-and-board builds.

How do I get the Duelling Longsword?

It’s found in a bandit camp near the Zhelejov forge, east of Trosky. The camp is guarded by several bandits, so be prepared for a fight. You can also loot it from a specific bandit leader, but the chest is the most reliable spot.

What’s the best weapon for a Strength build?

The Ceremonial Mace is the top choice for Strength builds, especially against armored enemies. If you prefer axes, the Heavy War Axe is a strong alternative. Both scale with Strength and deal high blunt or slash damage respectively.

Can I repair weapons myself?

Yes, with a blacksmith’s kit. You can buy these from blacksmiths or craft them. Using the kit outside of combat repairs the weapon up to a point, but a blacksmith can fully repair it for a fee. You need the Maintenance skill to repair more effectively.
