Lost Castle 2 Crystal Mountain Behemoth Boss Guide

Card No. 06·8212 · Updated · Standard formula, shown below

The calculator on this card is switched off while it is checked. The formula is below, and the worked example shows how to do the sum by hand.

To defeat the Crystal Mountain Behemoth in Lost Castle 2, you need to break its crystal armor before dealing real damage, then dodge its telegraphed charge and slam attacks while targeting the exposed core. This guide explains the boss’s attack patterns, the best gear and strategies, and common mistakes to avoid so you can clear the fight consistently.

Formula

The calculator above works out your average damage per second (DPS) during the Behemoth fight. Enter the total fight duration in minutes and the total damage you dealt (shown on the results screen), and it returns your average DPS. The formula is:

Average DPS = Total Damage ÷ Fight Duration (in minutes)

  • Total Damage – the sum of all damage you dealt to the boss, in points (shown at the end of the run).
  • Fight Duration – the time from the first hit on the boss to its defeat, in minutes (use a stopwatch or the run timer).

The result is your sustained damage output, which helps you judge whether your build is strong enough to break the crystal armor before the enrage timer.

Worked Example

Using the default values: you fought the Behemoth for 5 minutes and dealt 1,000 damage.

  1. Divide damage by time: 1,000 ÷ 5 = 200.
  2. The result is 200 damage per minute.

So your average DPS is 200 points per minute. If the Behemoth has, say, 3,000 HP, you would need 15 minutes at that DPS – which is longer than the enrage timer, so you would need to improve your gear or strategy.

Behemoth Overview and Lore

The Crystal Mountain Behemoth is a late-game boss in Lost Castle 2, appearing in the Crystal Mountain area after the first few floors. It is a large, quadrupedal creature covered in glowing crystal plates that act as armor. The crystals reduce all damage you deal by about 70% until they are broken. The boss has two phases: in phase one, it uses telegraphed charges and crystal shard throws; in phase two (after its armor breaks), it becomes faster and adds a ground slam that creates shockwaves.

The fight is a DPS check – if you take too long, the boss enrages and its attack speed doubles, making it nearly impossible to dodge. Most players need at least 200–300 DPS to beat it comfortably with a full party.

How to Break the Crystal Armor

The core mechanic is breaking the crystals. Each crystal plate has its own HP bar (shown as a small white segment above the boss’s health bar). You must deal enough damage to each plate to shatter it. Once all plates are broken, the boss takes full damage for about 10 seconds, then the crystals regrow.

  • Use weapons with high hit frequency (daggers, fast swords, or multi-hit skills) to break crystals quickly.
  • Elemental damage (fire, ice, lightning) works well – the crystals are weak to all elements, but take extra damage from blunt weapons (hammers, maces).
  • Focus one plate at a time – spreading damage across multiple plates is inefficient.
  • When the crystals regrow, they have less HP than the first time, so subsequent breaks are faster.

Attack Patterns and How to Dodge

The Behemoth has a limited set of attacks, all telegraphed by a brief wind-up animation. Learn these to avoid damage:

  • Charge – The boss lowers its head and charges in a straight line. Dodge to the side (perpendicular to the charge) just before it moves.
  • Crystal Shard Throw – It rears up and throws 3–5 shards in a spread. Stand behind a rock or dodge through the gaps.
  • Ground Slam – It raises both front legs and slams down, creating a shockwave that travels outward. Jump over the shockwave or dodge away from the center.
  • Tail Swipe – It turns quickly and swipes with its tail. Stay near its front legs to avoid this.
  • Roar (Phase 2) – It roars, knocking you back and briefly stunning you. Keep your distance during the roar.

The key is to stay close to its hind legs – most attacks cannot hit you there, and you can punish after each dodge.

Best Builds and Gear for the Fight

Your build matters more than your raw level. For the Behemoth, you want a balance of attack speed and survivability.

  • Weapons – A fast one-handed sword or dagger for breaking crystals, plus a shield for blocking the charge. Alternatively, a two-handed hammer for high single hits, but it is slower.
  • Armor – Choose armor with high physical defense and some elemental resistance. The Behemoth’s shards deal physical damage, but its slam deals a mix of physical and magic.
  • Accessories – Equip items that increase attack speed or critical hit chance – these help break crystals faster.
  • Consumables – Bring health potions and a stamina recovery item. Stamina is crucial for dodging.
  • Skills – Pick skills that hit multiple times (like Whirlwind or Rapid Thrust). Avoid long wind-up skills that leave you vulnerable.

If you are playing co-op, have one player focus on breaking crystals while the other deals damage to the exposed core. Communication is key – call out when the crystals break.

Common Mistakes and How to Avoid Them

Many players struggle with the Behemoth due to a few recurring errors:

  • Ignoring the crystals – Trying to DPS through the armor wastes time and triggers the enrage. Always break the crystals first.
  • Panic dodging – Dodging too early or too late. Wait for the wind-up animation to complete, then dodge.
  • Standing in front of the boss – The front is where the charge and slam hit. Stay at the side or behind.
  • Not using the environment – The arena has pillars that block the crystal shards. Use them as cover.
  • Overcommitting to attacks – The Behemoth has short recovery windows. Hit once or twice, then get ready to dodge.

Co-op Strategy and Party Roles

In a party of 2–4 players, the fight becomes easier if you assign roles:

  • Crystal Breaker – One player with high attack speed focuses on breaking crystals. They should stay close and use multi-hit skills.
  • Damage Dealer – Once crystals break, this player unleashes heavy attacks on the exposed core. They should have high single-hit damage.
  • Tank/Support – A player with a shield and taunt skills draws the boss’s attention, while a healer keeps the team alive.

When the boss enrages, the tank should kite it in a circle while the others continue to DPS. Do not all cluster together – spread out to avoid the shockwave hitting everyone.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much HP does the Crystal Mountain Behemoth have?

The Behemoth’s HP scales with your party size and the difficulty level. On normal difficulty solo, it has roughly 2,500–3,000 HP, with each crystal plate having about 300–400 HP. In co-op, HP increases by about 50% per extra player.

What is the best weapon to break the crystals?

Fast weapons like daggers or short swords work best because they hit multiple times per second. Hammers are slower but each hit does more damage to the crystals – a good compromise is a one-handed hammer with a fast attack speed enchantment.

Can I skip the crystal phase?

No, the crystal armor is mandatory – the boss takes reduced damage (about 30%) until all plates are broken. There is no way to bypass it, but you can speed up the process by using elemental damage and focusing one plate at a time.

What happens if the boss enrages?

When enraged, the Behemoth’s attack speed doubles and it gains a new slam attack that covers a wider area. The best strategy is to keep your distance and wait for the enrage to end (it lasts about 15 seconds), then resume the normal pattern. Do not try to tank it – you will likely die.

Is the Behemoth weak to any element?

All elements deal normal damage to the crystals, but fire and lightning have a chance to apply a burn or stun effect, which can interrupt the boss’s attacks. There is no specific weakness, so use whatever element you have the best gear for.

What is the recommended level to fight the Behemoth?

Most players are around level 25–30 when they reach the Crystal Mountain. If you are below level 25, consider grinding a few floors for better gear. Your gear level matters more than your character level – aim for equipment that is at least your current floor’s rarity.
