Marvel Rivals Summer Skins & Twitch Drops Guide

Card No. 06·8182 · Updated · Standard formula, shown below

The Marvel Rivals “Uplifting Welcome” event is a limited-time celebration that adds summer-themed skins for several heroes and pairs them with Twitch Drops for viewers. You earn the skins by completing event challenges in-game and by watching designated Marvel Rivals streams on Twitch, with rewards ranging from sprays and nameplates to full character costumes.

What Is the Uplifting Welcome Event?

The Uplifting Welcome event is a seasonal promotion in Marvel Rivals that typically runs for about two to three weeks during the summer. It introduces a beach-and-pool aesthetic to the game, with new cosmetic items for a handful of characters. The event is structured around a simple battle-pass-like track: you complete daily and weekly missions to earn event currency, which you then spend on the featured summer skins and other cosmetics in a dedicated event store.

Unlike the standard battle pass, the Uplifting Welcome event is free for all players—no premium currency is required to earn the main rewards. The event also ties into Twitch Drops, meaning you can unlock some items just by watching Marvel Rivals streams on Twitch while your account is linked.

Which Skins Are in the Event?

The exact roster changes each year, but the first Uplifting Welcome event (summer 2025) included these summer-themed skins:

  • Beach Volleyball Hulk – Hulk in swim trunks and sunglasses, with a volleyball-themed gamma slam effect.
  • Poolside Psylocke – Psylocke in a summer training outfit with a water-psychic blade effect.
  • Sunbather Squirrel Girl – Squirrel Girl in a beach dress and floppy hat, with acorn projectiles that look like beach balls.
  • Lifeguard Rocket – Rocket Raccoon in a lifeguard uniform, with a rescue-float jetpack.

These skins are usually epic or legendary rarity, and they are only available during the event window. After the event ends, they may return in a future event or be added to the in-game store, but that is not guaranteed.

How to Earn the Summer Skins

To get the summer skins, you need to accumulate event currency called “Summer Stars” (or a similar name, depending on the event). You earn Summer Stars by completing event challenges, which are listed in the event tab in the main menu. Challenges typically include things like:

  • Play 3 matches as a Vanguard hero.
  • Deal 10,000 damage in Quick Play or Competitive.
  • Win 2 matches with a friend in your party.
  • Get 5 final hits in a single match.

Each challenge gives a set amount of Summer Stars, and the skins cost between 600 and 1,200 stars. If you complete all challenges over the event’s duration, you will earn enough to buy at least one skin, and often two if you are diligent. The event store also contains sprays, nameplates, and emote bundles that cost fewer stars.

How Twitch Drops Work for This Event

Twitch Drops are a separate reward track that runs concurrently with the in-game event. To participate, you must link your Marvel Rivals account to your Twitch account. You do this on the official Marvel Rivals website under “Account Linking.” Once linked, you simply watch any Marvel Rivals stream that has Drops enabled (look for the “Drops Enabled” tag on the stream).

Watching for a cumulative amount of time unlocks rewards. Typical drop tiers for this event are:

  • Watch 1 hour – Summer-themed spray.
  • Watch 2 hours – Nameplate.
  • Watch 4 hours – Exclusive Twitch Drop skin (often a recolor of a base skin, such as a “Sunset” variant).

You must claim each drop in your Twitch inventory (the “Drops” tab) before the next tier starts counting. Drops are usually available for the entire event duration, so you can spread the watching over multiple days. Note that only streams in the “Marvel Rivals” category with Drops enabled count; watching VODs or highlights does not.

Common Problems and How to Fix Them

Players often run into a few issues during these events:

  • Drops not tracking: Make sure your Twitch and Marvel Rivals accounts are linked on the official site, and that you are watching a live stream with Drops enabled. Refresh the page if the progress bar is stuck.
  • Event currency not appearing: Sometimes the game client needs a restart after you complete a challenge. If the currency still doesn’t show, check that you are playing the correct game mode (some challenges exclude Practice vs. AI).
  • Skin not showing in your locker: After purchasing a skin, it should be immediately available. If not, restart the game. If it still doesn’t appear, contact support—but this is rare.
  • Missing Twitch Drop reward: If you watched the required time but didn’t get the reward, go to your Twitch Drops inventory and click “Claim.” If it says “Claimed” but isn’t in-game, wait 24 hours and restart the game.

Comparing Event Skins to Store Skins

The summer event skins are generally comparable in quality to the premium skins sold in the in-game store for real money. The main difference is that event skins are free (if you put in the time) and have a limited-time availability. Store skins cost around 1,800–2,200 units (the premium currency) and are always available. Event skins often have unique voice lines or visual effects that match the theme, but they do not change gameplay—they are purely cosmetic.

If you are deciding whether to grind for the event skin or just buy a store skin, consider how much you play the character. The event skin is a great value if you play that hero regularly, but if you don’t, you might prefer to spend your time on other games or just watch Twitch for the free drops.

Is the Event Worth Your Time?

For most players, yes—the event is free, and the skins are unique. The time investment is roughly 10–15 hours of play over two weeks to earn one skin, which is comparable to other free-to-play games. If you are a completionist, you may need to play almost daily and watch Twitch for several hours to get everything. But if you only want one specific skin, you can focus on the challenges that give the most stars and skip the rest.

One common misconception is that you need to win matches to progress. That is not true—most challenges count participation, not just wins. So even if you lose, you are still earning progress.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to buy the battle pass to get the summer skins?

No. The Uplifting Welcome event is completely separate from the battle pass and is free for all players. You earn event currency by completing challenges, and you spend it in the event store. There is no premium track for this event.

Can I get the summer skins after the event ends?

Usually not immediately. Marvel Rivals has not yet brought back past event skins, but they have added older skins to the store in later seasons. There is no guarantee, so if you want a skin, it is best to earn it during the event.

How long does the event last?

Most Marvel Rivals events last about two to three weeks. The exact dates are announced on the official Marvel Rivals social media and in the game’s news tab. Twitch Drops typically run for the same duration.

Can I watch any stream for Twitch Drops?

No. Only streams in the “Marvel Rivals” category that have Drops enabled count. You can filter the category on Twitch by selecting “Drops Enabled” in the filter options. Streamers cannot enable Drops themselves—it is set by the game publisher for all eligible streams during the event.

Do Twitch Drops count if I watch on my phone?

Yes, as long as you are logged into the same Twitch account that is linked to your Marvel Rivals account. The Twitch mobile app supports Drops, and background audio may still count, but it is safer to keep the app open and the stream playing.
