DMZ Key Locations: Which Door Each Key Opens

Card No. 06·2912 · Updated · Standard formula, shown below

The calculator on this card is switched off while it is checked. The formula is below, and the worked example shows how to do the sum by hand.

This article lists the key locations in Call of Duty: Warzone 2 DMZ and exactly which door or container each key opens, based on the in-game item descriptions and community-mapped spawn points. You enter a key from your inventory to see its named target, but finding the actual door requires knowing the map area and the specific building. Below is the full breakdown by map, key name, and door location, plus how key mechanics work and common mistakes to avoid.

How Keys Work in DMZ

Keys are single-use or limited-use items that open locked doors, caches, and containers scattered across Al Mazrah, Vondel, Ashika Island, and Building 21. Each key has a name that usually hints at its target, such as Al Bagra Fortress Office Key or Channel 7 News Rooftop Key. When you hover over a key in your backpack, the game displays the target location in the item description, but it does not mark the door on your tac map. You must physically go to the marked building and find the locked door or crate that accepts the key.

Keys are consumed on use, though some have multiple uses (e.g., 3 or 5) indicated by a number next to the key icon. You can store keys in your key stash (up to 30) and equip them in a loadout slot. Keys are obtained from HVT contracts, supply drops, loot caches, and enemy AI drops.

Al Mazrah Key Locations

Al Mazrah is the largest map and has the most keys. The table below lists the key name and the exact door it opens, based on the in-game description and verified spawns.

  • Al Bagra Fortress Office Key – Opens the office door in the Al Bagra Fortress, located in the southern wing of the main building, second floor.
  • Al Bagra Fortress Underground Key – Opens the underground storage room door in the fortress, accessible via the staircase near the courtyard.
  • Channel 7 News Rooftop Key – Opens the rooftop door of the Channel 7 News building in downtown Al Mazrah, near the helipad.
  • City Administration Building Key – Opens the locked door on the third floor of the City Admin building, north of the downtown area.
  • Crane Control Room Key – Opens the control room door at the port cranes, on the eastern edge of the port.
  • Police Academy Armory Key – Opens the armory door in the Police Academy, basement level.
  • Sa’id City Mall Key – Opens the maintenance room door in the mall, near the food court.
  • Zaya Observatory Key – Opens the observatory dome door, on the upper level of the main building.

Note that some keys share a name but open different doors depending on the building wing; always read the full description.

Vondel Key Locations

Vondel is a smaller, water-based map with a distinct set of keys.

  • Vondel City Hall Key – Opens the mayor’s office door on the second floor of City Hall.
  • Vondel Museum Key – Opens the back entrance door of the museum, near the loading dock.
  • Vondel Castle Key – Opens the armory door in the castle’s basement.
  • Vondel Zoo Key – Opens the keeper’s office door in the zoo, behind the reptile house.

Ashika Island Key Locations

Ashika Island is a small map with a mix of residential and industrial areas.

  • Ashika Beach Club Key – Opens the VIP room door on the upper floor of the beach club.
  • Ashika Port Key – Opens the customs office door in the port’s main building.
  • Ashika Castle Key – Opens the dungeon door in the castle’s lower level.

Building 21 Key Locations

Building 21 is a special raid-like map with limited time access.

  • Building 21 Armory Key – Opens the armory door on the second floor, east wing.
  • Building 21 Server Room Key – Opens the server room door on the basement level.

How to Find the Exact Door

Once you have a key, open your inventory and select it to see the target name. Then, open your tac map and navigate to the named location. The door is usually marked with a small lock icon when you are within 10 meters. Use a UAV or spotter scope to identify the exact building. If you cannot find the door, check the building’s roof and basement—many keys open rooms on non-ground floors.

Common Mistakes and Tips

  • Wrong building wing: Some keys specify a wing (e.g., “East Wingâ€); read the description carefully.
  • Using the key too early: Keys are consumed even if you open the door but die before looting. Clear the area first.
  • Not checking the key stash: Keys in your stash are not automatically equipped; you must put them in your loadout.
  • Ignoring the key’s limited uses: A key with 3 uses will disappear after the third door opening.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I unlock any door with any key?

No. Each key is specific to one door or type of door. The key name and description tell you exactly which door it opens. Using a key on the wrong door will not work and will not consume the key.

Do keys respawn in the same place?

Keys are randomly looted, but the doors they open are always in the same location. The key itself can be found in various loot sources, not a fixed spawn.

How do I get more keys?

Keys drop from High-Value Targets (HVTs), supply crates, and enemy AI. You can also find them in safes and lockers. There is no guaranteed farming method; it’s random.

What happens if I lose a key?

If you die with a key in your backpack, you lose it. Keys in your stash are safe and will not be lost on death. Always store valuable keys in your stash.

Are there keys for every locked door?

Not every locked door has a corresponding key. Some locked doors are mission-specific and cannot be opened with a standard key. Check the door’s prompt—if it says “Requires Key, then a key exists.

Can I share keys with teammates?

Yes, you can drop keys on the ground for teammates to pick up. However, the key is consumed by the player who uses it, so only one door opening per key.
