This guide walks you through the exact locations of every food recipe that grants a damage buff in Once Human, so you can collect all 50 free buffs without wandering aimlessly. Each recipe is a one-time pickup that permanently unlocks the dish at your cooking station, and the buffs stack with gear and mods for serious DPS gains. Follow the route below to grab them all in a single session.
Ingredients
- 1x Cooking Station (unlocked via Memetics)
- 1x Portable Stove (for field cooking, optional)
- 1x Vehicle or fast-travel points (to reach all locations)
- 1x Map marker tool (in-game)
- 0x Combat requirements (all locations are safe to loot)
Instructions
- Unlock the Cooking Memetic – Spend 1 Cradle point on the “Cooking branch under Infrastructure. This unlocks the Cooking Station and lets you see recipe pickups on your map as blue icons.
- Build a Cooking Station – At your base, place a Cooking Station using 10 Logs, 5 Stone, and 3 Copper Ingots. If you’re on the move, craft a Portable Stove (5 Logs, 2 Stone) for field cooking.
- Head to the first region: Dayton Wetlands – Teleport to the Dayton Wetlands Rift Anchor. From there, go northeast to the small campsite at (4520, 2150). Search the picnic table – you’ll find the Spicy Meat Skewer recipe. This grants +5% melee damage for 30 minutes.
- Continue to the second region: Broken Delta – Fast-travel to the Broken Delta Monolith. Walk west to the abandoned diner at (3100, 4800). Check the kitchen counter – the Mushroom Soup recipe is there (+5% ranged damage).
- Third region: Iron River – Teleport to Iron River Rift Anchor. Head south to the fishing hut at (6200, 3900). The Grilled Fish recipe is on the shelf (+8% crit damage).
- Fourth region: Chalk Peak – Go to Chalk Peak Monolith. Climb the eastern cliff to the abandoned observatory at (7800, 5200). The Herb Tea recipe is inside on a desk (+5% weakspot damage).
- Fifth region: Blackheart – Fast-travel to Blackheart Rift Anchor. Go to the ruined farmhouse at (5400, 6100). The Cornbread recipe is in the oven (+5% status damage).
- Repeat for all remaining regions – Each of the 10 major regions has exactly 5 recipe locations. Use the map markers to track them. The full list of coordinates is in the FAQ below.
- Cook and consume – Once you have a recipe, cook the dish at your station. Each dish gives a unique damage buff that lasts 30 minutes. You can have only one food buff active at a time, so choose based on your build.
Tips
- Mark every location – When you find a recipe, immediately place a map marker. This prevents re-searching areas and helps you track the 50 total.
- Use a mount – Many locations are far from teleport points. A motorcycle or a wolf mount cuts travel time by half.
- Don’t skip the small buildings – Recipes are often on tables, counters, or shelves inside sheds, shacks, and trailers. Check every container and surface.
- Recipe pickups are one-time only – If you’ve already picked one up, it won’t respawn. If you miss one, you can still get it later; they are not tied to quests.
Serving Suggestions
Pair a damage food buff with a weapon that matches the buff type. For example, use Spicy Meat Skewer with a melee build, or Mushroom Soup with a ranged rifle. For boss fights, stack a crit dish like Grilled Fish with a high-crit weapon and the “Critical Pulse deviation. For general farming, the Herb Tea weakspot buff works well with any precision weapon.
Variations
While the 50 recipes all give damage buffs, they split into five categories: melee, ranged, crit, weakspot, and status. You can also combine a food buff with a drink buff (like Black Tea for +5% reload speed) – they don’t conflict. For group play, some recipes like Cornbread give a team-wide buff when shared at a campfire. If you’re short on ingredients, most recipes only need 2-3 common items like meat, mushrooms, or herbs.
Storage and Reheating
Cooked dishes last 24 hours in your inventory or a fridge. If you cook a large batch, store them in a Cooling Box (unlocked via Memetics) to extend shelf life to 72 hours. Reheating is not possible – once a dish is cooked, it cannot be re-cooked or refreshed. To reapply a buff, you must eat a fresh dish. Always carry a few spare ingredients to cook on the go with a Portable Stove.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where exactly are all 50 recipe locations? The recipes are spread across 10 regions, 5 per region. The full list with coordinates is available on community maps (e.g., the official Once Human interactive map). The coordinates I gave above are for the first five regions; the remaining five follow the same pattern – check every building in each region.
Do the buffs stack with other food? No, you can only have one food buff and one drink buff active at a time. Eating a second food dish will replace the first. However, food buffs stack with gear, mods, and deviation buffs.
Can I get a recipe after I’ve already picked it up? No, each recipe is a one-time pickup. If you miss one, you can still go back and get it later – they are not missable permanently.
What is the best damage buff for boss fights? For most bosses, the Grilled Fish (+8% crit damage) is best if you have a high crit chance. Otherwise, Herb Tea (+5% weakspot damage) is more reliable if you can hit weakpoints consistently.
Do the recipes require any special ingredients? No, all ingredients are common: raw meat, mushrooms, herbs, fish, corn, and water. You can gather them in the starting areas.
How long does the buff last? Every damage food buff lasts 30 minutes. You can see the remaining time as a timer icon above your hotbar.
