The right Samsung tablet for your work depends on whether you need a laptop replacement, a portable sketchpad, or a secondary display—and the S Pen is included with the Galaxy Tab S series and the Tab Active series, but not with the base Tab A models. This guide breaks down the current Galaxy Tab lineup by screen size, performance tier, and S Pen features so you can match a model to your actual job tasks.
Formula
The calculator above works out your average running pace and speed from a finish time and distance. The pace formula is:
Pace (min/km) = Finish time (minutes) ÷ Distance (km)
Speed is the inverse, converted to hours:
Speed (km/h) = Distance (km) ÷ (Finish time (minutes) ÷ 60)
Variables:
- t – finish time in minutes (e.g., 50 minutes)
- d – distance in kilometers (e.g., 10 km)
- Pace – minutes per kilometer, the standard metric for runners
- Speed – kilometers per hour, useful for treadmill settings or comparing with cycling
Worked Example
Using the default values of 50 minutes for a 10 km run:
- Pace = 50 ÷ 10 = 5.00 min/km
- Speed = 10 ÷ (50 ÷ 60) = 10 ÷ 0.8333 = 12.00 km/h
So a 50-minute 10K means you averaged exactly 5 minutes per kilometer, or 12 km/h. The calculator rounds to two decimals, so a 51-minute 10K would show 5.10 min/km and 11.76 km/h.
When to Use This Calculator
Use it after a race or training run to get your true average pace, not just the pace your watch shows at the end (which can be skewed by GPS drift or stops). It is also handy for planning: if you want to run 10 km in under 50 minutes, you know you need to hold 5:00 min/km. For treadmill runners, the speed output tells you what km/h setting to use. If you work in miles, convert distance to kilometers first (1 mile = 1.60934 km) or use a separate pace calculator for min/mile.
Common Mistakes
- Mixing units – entering distance in miles but expecting min/km. Always convert to the same unit system.
- Including stops – if your watch auto-pauses, the finish time is moving time, not total elapsed time. Decide which you want and be consistent.
- Rounding too early – rounding pace to 5.0 min/km before calculating speed gives 12.0 km/h, but if you round the distance or time first, the speed can be off by 0.1–0.2 km/h.
Limitations of the Formula
This is a simple average – it tells you nothing about elevation gain, wind, or interval pacing. A hilly 10K will have a slower average pace than a flat one even if your effort is identical. Also, the formula assumes you cover exactly the distance entered; GPS watches often measure slightly more or less than the race course, which changes the true pace. For training zones (e.g., tempo vs. easy), you need heart rate or perceived effort, not just pace.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is min/km or min/mile more common? Min/km is standard in most of the world and for international races. Min/mile is used in the US and UK. This calculator works in min/km; to get min/mile, divide the pace by 1.60934.
What is a good 10K pace for a beginner? A common benchmark is finishing in 60–70 minutes, which is 6:00–7:00 min/km. But “good depends on age, fitness, and training history – compare against your own recent times, not strangers online.
Can I use this for walking? Yes, the math is the same. Walking pace is usually 10–15 min/km, and the calculator handles that fine.
Why does my watch show a different pace? Watches use real-time GPS distance, which can be off by 2–5% in urban canyons or tree cover. The calculator uses the official race distance, which is often more accurate for a certified course.
How do I convert pace to speed manually? Divide 60 by the pace in minutes. For 5 min/km, 60 ÷ 5 = 12 km/h. For 6 min/km, 60 ÷ 6 = 10 km/h.
