Facebook does not provide a single button that shows everyone who follows you, but you can see your follower list through your profile’s Friends section. This guide explains exactly where to find that list on the Facebook app and website, what the difference is between friends and followers, and how to control who can follow you.

What “Followers” Means on Facebook

On Facebook, “followers” are people who see your public posts in their News Feed without being your friend. When you accept someone as a friend, you both follow each other by default, but you can also have followers who are not friends. Anyone can follow you if your “Who can follow me” setting is set to Public. If you set it to Friends, only your friends can follow you, and the follower list will basically match your friends list.

Your follower count is the total number of people who follow you, which includes friends and non-friends. The list of followers is not a separate tab in the main menu; it is hidden inside your profile’s Friends section.

How to See Your Follower List on the Facebook App

To see who follows you on the Facebook app (iOS or Android), follow these steps:

  1. Open the Facebook app and tap your profile picture in the top left corner to go to your profile.
  2. Tap the Friends tab near the top of your profile, directly under your name and bio.
  3. On the Friends screen, tap the Followers tab at the top. This shows a list of people who follow you, including friends and non-friends.

If you do not see a Followers tab, it may mean you have no followers other than friends, or your privacy settings are set to Friends only. In that case, the Followers tab may be hidden.

How to See Your Follower List on the Facebook Website

On a computer, the steps are slightly different:

  1. Go to facebook.com and log in.
  2. Click your name in the left sidebar to go to your profile.
  3. Click the Friends link near the top of your profile, just below your cover photo.
  4. On the Friends page, click the Followers tab on the left side. This shows the same list as the app.

The Followers tab is only visible if you have at least one follower who is not a friend. If you have no non-friend followers, the tab may not appear, and you will only see your friends list.

Difference Between Friends and Followers

Friends are mutual connections: you both accept each other, and you share posts with each other based on your privacy settings. Followers are one-way connections: they see your public posts, but you do not see theirs unless you follow them back. You can have followers who are not friends, and you can also have friends who do not follow you (if they unfollowed you). The follower list includes all friends who follow you plus any non-friend followers.

When you unfriend someone, they no longer appear in your friends list, but they may still follow you if your posts are public. To stop someone from following you, you must block them or change your follow settings to Friends only.

How to Control Who Can Follow You

You can change who is allowed to follow you in your privacy settings:

  1. Go to Settings & Privacy > Settings.
  2. Click Public Posts in the left menu.
  3. Next to “Who can follow me,” choose either Public (anyone can follow) or Friends (only friends can follow).

If you choose Friends, only your friends will be able to follow you, and the Followers tab will essentially show your friends list. Note that this setting does not affect people who already follow you; it only controls new followers.

Why Can’t I See the Followers Tab?

If you cannot find the Followers tab, here are the most common reasons:

  • You have no followers who are not friends, so Facebook hides the tab.
  • Your “Who can follow me” setting is set to Friends, so there are no non-friend followers.
  • You are viewing a profile that is not yours; you can only see your own follower list.
  • You are using an outdated version of the app; update Facebook to the latest version.

If you want to see who follows you even if the tab is hidden, you can temporarily set your follow setting to Public and ask a friend to follow you with a non-friend account, but that is not necessary for most users.

Can You See Who Follows Someone Else?

No, you cannot see the follower list of another person, even if their profile is public. Facebook does not make follower lists visible to other users. The only way to see someone else’s followers is if they share a screenshot or if you are logged into their account (which is not allowed). This is a privacy feature, so you can only see your own followers.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I see my followers on Facebook in 2024?

Go to your profile, tap Friends, then tap Followers. The tab appears only if you have at least one follower who is not a friend. If you don’t see it, you likely have no non-friend followers.

Why does my follower count not match my friends count?

Your follower count includes all friends who follow you plus non-friend followers. If you have friends who unfollowed you, they are not counted as followers. If you have non-friend followers, they are counted. So the two numbers can differ.

Can I see who unfollowed me on Facebook?

No, Facebook does not notify you when someone unfollows you, and there is no list of people who unfollowed you. You can only see your current followers.

How do I remove a follower without blocking them?

There is no direct “remove follower” button. You can block the person, which removes them as a follower and prevents them from following you again. Alternatively, you can change your follow setting to Friends, which will remove all non-friend followers after a short period, but this also prevents new non-friend followers.

Does following someone on Facebook send a notification?

No, following someone does not send a notification. The person will only see your name in their follower list. If you like or comment on their public posts, they may see that.

What is the difference between following and friending on Facebook?

Friending is mutual and gives both parties access to each other’s private posts (depending on privacy settings). Following is one-way: you see public posts, but the other person does not see yours unless they follow you back. You can follow someone without being friends.
