If you see “No licenses” in your Steam library, it means your account currently has no games or software tied to it that are playable on your profile. This usually happens when you’ve hidden your games, are looking at the wrong account, or have a family-sharing or regional issue, and it’s almost always fixable in a few clicks.

Formula

The calculator above works out your average pace and speed from a finish time and distance. The formulas are:

  • Pace = Finish time (minutes) ÷ Distance (km) — result in min/km
  • Speed = Distance (km) ÷ (Finish time ÷ 60) — result in km/h

Variables: t = finish time in minutes, d = distance in kilometers. Pace tells you how long each kilometer took; speed tells you how many kilometers you covered in one hour.

Worked Example

Using the defaults: t = 50 minutes, d = 10 km.

  1. Pace = 50 ÷ 10 = 5.00 min/km
  2. Speed = 10 ÷ (50 ÷ 60) = 10 ÷ 0.8333 = 12.00 km/h

So a 50-minute 10K means you ran each kilometer in 5 minutes, which is 12 km/h on average.

Why Does Steam Say “No Licenses”?

Steam uses the word “license” to mean the right to play a specific game on your account. When you buy a game, Steam attaches a license to your profile. If the library shows “No licenses,” it means the list of games you own is empty from Steam’s perspective. The most common reasons are:

  • Games are hidden — You or someone with access to your account hid titles from the library view.
  • Wrong account — You’re signed into a different Steam account than the one with your games.
  • Family Library Sharing — Shared games can disappear if the owner revokes access or goes offline.
  • Regional or payment issues — A purchase was refunded or failed, removing the license.
  • Steam client glitch — The UI sometimes fails to load the license list temporarily.

How to Check and Fix It

Here’s what to do in order, from simplest to most involved:

  1. Restart Steam — Fully exit (right-click the tray icon → Exit) and relaunch. This clears most temporary UI glitches.
  2. Check the correct account — Click your profile name in the top-right. If it’s not the account you expected, sign out and sign in with the right credentials.
  3. Unhide games — Go to View → Hidden Games (or Library → Hidden in the new interface). Right-click any game and select “Manage → Unhide.”
  4. Verify family sharing — If you were borrowing games, ask the owner to re-authorize your device in Settings → Family.
  5. Check purchase history — Visit Account Details → View purchase history. If a game is missing, it may have been refunded or removed due to a chargeback.
  6. Clear download cache — Settings → Downloads → Clear Download Cache (you’ll need to sign in again). This often fixes corrupted library data.

Common Misconception: It Means Your Account Is Banned

Seeing “No licenses” does not mean your account was banned or terminated. A VAC ban or community ban still leaves your purchased games playable — bans restrict multiplayer or trading, not your library. A true account suspension (which is rare) would show a different message entirely, usually on the store page or when you try to launch a game. “No licenses” is almost always a display or account-access issue, not a punishment.

How to Avoid Losing Licenses

Licenses are tied to your Steam account, not your computer. To keep them safe:

  • Don’t share your password — Anyone with your login can hide or refund games.
  • Enable Steam Guard — Use the mobile authenticator to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Be careful with refunds — Refunding a game removes its license. If you rebuy it later, the license returns.
  • Keep family sharing limited — Only share with people you trust; they can trigger a revocation by playing a shared game while you’re offline.

What to Do If Nothing Works

If you’ve tried all the steps above and still see “No licenses,” the issue may be on Steam’s side. Check the Steam status page for server outages. If servers are fine, contact Steam Support with your account name and a description of when the problem started. They can verify whether your licenses exist on their backend and restore them if a glitch removed them from view.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I see my licenses without opening Steam?

Yes. Log into the Steam website, go to Account Details → View licenses and product key activations. This shows every license attached to your account, even ones not currently installed.

Does “No licenses” affect my saved games?

No. Your save files are stored locally on your computer (and in Steam Cloud if enabled). Even if the license list is empty, your saves remain intact. Once the license issue is fixed, your games and progress return.

Why did a game disappear after I moved to a new PC?

Steam licenses are tied to your account, not hardware. If a game is missing on a new PC, you likely haven’t installed it yet — check your library with the “Ready to install” filter. If it’s not there, you may be signed into a different account.

Can I play a game without a license?

No. Without a license, Steam will not let you download or launch the game. Free-to-play games are an exception — they grant a license automatically when you click “Play Now.”

Is “No licenses” permanent?

Almost never. It’s a temporary state caused by hiding, account mix-ups, or a client bug. In rare cases of fraud or chargebacks, Steam may permanently revoke a license, but that’s specific to the affected game, not your whole library.
