Subnautica 2 Crafting Recipes Reference (Early Access)

Card No. 06·6135 · Updated · Standard formula, shown below

This guide is a practical reference for the crafting recipes currently available in Subnautica 2’s Early Access build. It covers the essential tools, equipment, and base modules you can craft, with the exact materials needed and how to use them effectively. Whether you’re just starting your descent or planning a deep-sea base, this page gives you the recipe list you need at a glance.

Ingredients

Most recipes require raw materials gathered from the seabed, flora, and fauna. Below are the key ingredients you’ll encounter, with their typical sources.

  • Titanium – 1 unit (from metal salvage, limestone outcrops, or scanning fragments)
  • Copper Ore – 1 unit (from limestone outcrops, often found in caves)
  • Quartz – 1 unit (from sandstone outcrops or on the seafloor)
  • Silver Ore – 1 unit (from sandstone outcrops)
  • Gold Ore – 1 unit (from sandstone outcrops, rarer)
  • Lead – 1 unit (from sandstone outcrops, used in radiation suits)
  • Acid Mushroom – 1 unit (harvested from acid mushroom clusters)
  • Creepvine Seed Cluster – 1 unit (from creepvines, often in kelp forests)
  • Fiber Mesh – 1 unit (crafted from Creepvine Seed Clusters)
  • Silicone Rubber – 1 unit (crafted from Creepvine Seed Clusters)
  • Glass – 1 unit (crafted from Quartz)
  • Bleach – 1 unit (crafted from Salt and Coral Tube Sample)
  • Battery – 1 unit (crafted from Acid Mushroom and Copper Ore)
  • Computer Chip – 1 unit (crafted from Gold Ore and Copper Ore)
  • Wiring Kit – 1 unit (crafted from Silver Ore and Copper Ore)

Instructions

Follow these steps to craft any item in the game. The process is the same for all recipes, whether you’re at a Fabricator, a Modification Station, or a Vehicle Upgrade Console.

  1. Open the Fabricator interface. Approach the Fabricator and press the interact key (default: E on PC, X on Xbox, Square on PlayStation). This opens the crafting menu.
  2. Select the category. The menu is divided into tabs: Tools, Equipment, Electronics, Base Pieces, and Vehicles. Choose the relevant tab for the item you want.
  3. Check the recipe. Each item shows its required materials and the quantity needed. If you have all the materials, the item icon will be fully colored; if not, the missing materials are shown in red.
  4. Press the craft button. Once you have the materials, select the item and press the craft button (default: click or A). The item will be added to your inventory instantly (or to the Fabricator’s storage if you’re crafting a base piece).
  5. For vehicle upgrades, use the Vehicle Upgrade Console. If you’re crafting a module like the Seamoth Depth Module, you need to be near the vehicle and use the console on the vehicle’s upgrade panel.
  6. For base pieces, select the build location. When crafting a base piece like a corridor or a window, you’ll enter build mode. Move the hologram to a valid spot and confirm to place it.

Common Early Access Recipes

Here are the most useful recipes you’ll likely need in the first few hours. Note that the exact costs may change as the game updates.

  • Repair Tool – 1 Silicone Rubber, 1 Battery, 1 Titanium
  • Scanner – 1 Battery, 1 Titanium, 1 Glass
  • Knife – 1 Titanium, 1 Silicone Rubber
  • Flashlight – 1 Battery, 1 Glass, 1 Titanium
  • Air Tank (Standard) – 1 Titanium, 1 Fiber Mesh
  • Fins – 2 Silicone Rubber
  • Radiation Suit (Helmet, Top, Pants) – each piece requires 1 Lead, 1 Fiber Mesh, and 1 Silicone Rubber
  • Habitat Builder – 1 Computer Chip, 1 Battery, 1 Titanium
  • Seaglide – 1 Computer Chip, 1 Battery, 1 Titanium, 1 Lubricant (crafted from Creepvine Seed Cluster)
  • Seamoth (fragments required) – 1 Titanium Ingot (10 Titanium), 1 Glass, 1 Computer Chip, 1 Power Cell (crafted from 2 Batteries)
  • Basic Corridor (base piece) – 2 Titanium, 1 Quartz
  • Window (base piece) – 1 Glass, 1 Titanium
  • Solar Panel (base piece) – 1 Quartz, 1 Copper Ore, 1 Titanium

Tips

  • Scan everything. Use the Scanner on all fragments, flora, and fauna. Scanning fragments unlocks new recipes, and scanning creatures gives you useful data entries.
  • Prioritize the Repair Tool and Scanner. These two tools are essential for progression. The Repair Tool fixes your lifepod and equipment, while the Scanner unlocks new blueprints.
  • Manage your inventory. Materials like Titanium and Quartz take up a lot of space. Craft items as soon as you have the materials, and store excess in the Fabricator’s storage or a locker.
  • Watch your oxygen. When gathering materials, keep an eye on your oxygen meter. Craft a spare air tank and keep it in your inventory for emergencies.
  • Use the Fabricator’s storage. The Fabricator has a small storage compartment. Use it to keep crafting materials close at hand, so you don’t have to swim back and forth.

Serving Suggestions

This reference is best used alongside your in-game PDA. Keep it open on a second monitor or phone while you play. You can also use it to plan your crafting priorities before you dive, so you know exactly what to collect. For example, if you’re aiming to build a Seamoth, you’ll know to gather 10 Titanium, 1 Glass, 1 Computer Chip, and 2 Batteries before you return to your Fabricator.

Variations

As Early Access updates roll out, recipes may change. The core materials remain the same, but quantities might shift. For instance, the Seamoth might require a different number of Titanium Ingots in a future patch. Always check the in-game recipe before crafting, as the reference above is based on the current build. Additionally, some recipes have alternate versions, like the Reinforced Dive Suit, which requires a Modification Station and a standard Dive Suit.

Storage and Reheating

In-game, crafted items don’t spoil, so you can store them indefinitely. However, raw materials are better kept in dedicated storage lockers. Organize your lockers by type: one for metals, one for organic materials, one for crafted components. This saves time when you need to craft something quickly. For base pieces, you don’t store them; you build them immediately. If you deconstruct a base piece, you get back the materials, so don’t worry about losing them.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get more blueprints?
Blueprints are unlocked by scanning fragments, which are found scattered across the ocean floor, often near wrecks or in caves. Use your Scanner to scan them, and the blueprint will be added to your Fabricator’s menu.

Why can’t I craft the Seamoth?
You need to find and scan all three Seamoth fragments first. These are typically located in the Kelp Forest or the Grassy Plateaus. Once all fragments are scanned, the blueprint becomes available.

What’s the best way to get Titanium?
The most efficient way is to collect metal salvage (the broken pieces of metal) from the seabed. Each piece gives you 2-4 Titanium. Limestone outcrops also yield Titanium, but less reliably.

Can I craft without a Fabricator?
No, the Fabricator is required for all crafting. You start with one in your lifepod, and you can build more in your bases. The Habitat Builder allows you to place a Fabricator in a base, but you still need the Fabricator itself.

Do recipes change between updates?
Yes, during Early Access, recipes are subject to change. The developers often adjust costs for balance. Always check the in-game recipe before crafting, as the reference above is based on the current build.

How do I get Silicone Rubber?
Silicone Rubber is crafted from Creepvine Seed Clusters. Harvest the clusters from creepvines in the Kelp Forest, then use the Fabricator to turn them into Silicone Rubber.
