Yes, you can now use MLS Season Pass on Apple TV. It is a subscription service available directly within the Apple TV app, and it streams every regular-season and playoff match of Major League Soccer. You can watch it on an Apple TV device, an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or any compatible smart TV, streaming stick, or game console that supports the Apple TV app.

Formula

The calculator above works out a team’s or player’s scoring rate per 90 minutes, the standard unit in soccer. The formula is:

Goals per 90 = Goals scored ÷ (Match length in minutes ÷ 90)

Where:

  • Goals scored – total goals in the match or season (unit: goals)
  • Match length – actual minutes played, including stoppage time if you want precision (unit: minutes)
  • Goals per 90 – the scoring rate normalized to a full 90-minute match (unit: goals per 90)

Worked Example

Using the default values: a match length of 90 minutes and 3 goals scored.

  1. Divide the match length by 90: 90 ÷ 90 = 1
  2. Divide goals by that result: 3 ÷ 1 = 3

The result is 3.00 goals per 90 minutes. This means if a team scores 3 goals in a full match, they average 3 goals per 90 minutes.

What MLS Season Pass Includes

MLS Season Pass is a standalone subscription that replaced the previous out-of-market package. It includes:

  • Every regular-season match, with no blackouts
  • All playoff games and the MLS Cup final
  • Leagues Cup matches (the joint tournament with Liga MX)
  • Spanish-language broadcasts for most matches
  • Original programming, highlights, and 24/7 match replays

The service launched in February 2023 as part of a 10-year deal between Apple and Major League Soccer. It is available in over 100 countries and regions, though the exact content may vary slightly by location.

How to Sign Up and Watch

You do not need a separate Apple TV device to subscribe. The Apple TV app is preinstalled on most modern smart TVs, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, PlayStation, Xbox, and on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

To subscribe:

  1. Open the Apple TV app on any supported device.
  2. Scroll to the “MLS Season Pass section or search for it.
  3. Choose the monthly or annual plan (or the free trial if offered).
  4. Confirm with your Apple ID and payment method.

Once subscribed, you can watch on up to three simultaneous streams with the same Apple ID. You can also share the subscription with up to five family members via Apple’s Family Sharing feature.

Cost and Subscription Options

Pricing is set by Apple and may change, but the standard structure is:

  • Monthly subscription – around $14.99 per month
  • Annual subscription – around $99 per year (roughly $8.25 per month)
  • Free for Apple TV+ subscribers – initially included, but this promotion ended after the first season

Season ticket holders of MLS clubs receive a free subscription as part of their ticket package. That code is redeemed in the Apple TV app. There is no separate app to download – the service lives entirely inside the Apple TV app.

Common Problems and Fixes

Users occasionally report issues with streaming quality or access. Here are the most common ones and what to do:

  • “Not available in your regionâ€ – MLS Season Pass is geo-restricted in a few countries. Check Apple’s availability list for your country.
  • Buffering or low quality – Check your internet speed (Apple recommends at least 25 Mbps for 4K). Restart your router and close other bandwidth-heavy apps.
  • Can’t find a match – Use the search function in the Apple TV app. Matches are also listed under the “MLSâ€ tab when available.
  • Subscription not showing – Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID used for purchase. If you used Family Sharing, confirm the family organizer’s account is active.
  • Audio out of sync – Restart the app or the device. On Apple TV, go to Settings > Video and Audio and check the wireless audio sync.

Comparison: MLS Season Pass vs. Other Ways to Watch

Before 2023, MLS matches were spread across ESPN, Fox, and regional sports networks. Now, nearly all matches are exclusive to MLS Season Pass. The only exceptions are a few national broadcasts on Fox or Univision that are simulcast on the service.

Compared to cable or satellite, MLS Season Pass offers:

  • No blackouts – every match is available everywhere in the US and Canada
  • No regional sports fee – you pay one flat rate
  • 4K HDR for select matches (requires a compatible device and plan)
  • Replays and condensed matches available on demand

The main downside is that you cannot watch matches through a traditional cable box, and you need an internet connection. If you are outside the US and Canada, availability varies – check Apple’s site for your country.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an Apple TV device to watch MLS Season Pass?

No. You can watch on any device that has the Apple TV app, including Roku, Fire TV, Android TV, PlayStation, Xbox, and most smart TVs. The name “Apple TV refers to both the hardware and the app, but the app works on many non-Apple devices.

Can I watch MLS Season Pass on two screens at once?

Yes, the subscription allows up to three simultaneous streams. If you try a fourth, the oldest stream will be stopped. Family Sharing lets up to six people share the subscription, but only three can watch at the same time.

Is MLS Season Pass included with Apple TV+?

No, not anymore. In the first season (2023), Apple TV+ subscribers got MLS Season Pass for free. That promotion ended. Now it is a separate subscription, though you can buy both together in some Apple bundles (like Apple One, which does not include MLS Season Pass by default – you still need to add it).

Can I watch matches live or only on replay?

You can watch every match live. Replays are available immediately after the match ends. You can also watch condensed 20-minute versions and full match replays from earlier in the season.

Does MLS Season Pass work outside the US?

Yes, it is available in over 100 countries. However, in some regions, a few matches may be blacked out due to local broadcast agreements. Check Apple’s support page for your country’s specific availability.

Can I cancel MLS Season Pass anytime?

Yes, you can cancel through your Apple ID settings. If you subscribed monthly, cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period. Annual subscriptions are non-refundable, but you can turn off auto-renewal to avoid being charged again.
