Black Ops 7 (the 2026 entry in Treyarch’s series) does not have a traditional co-op campaign. Instead, it ships with a single-player story mode, a separate two-player co-op mode called “Strike Missions, and a shared progression system that carries your operator level and weapon unlocks across multiplayer, zombies, and co-op. The endgame for co-op players is the Zombies mode’s “Dark Ops challenges and the Strike Missions’ high-score leaderboards, not a campaign finale.
Formula
The calculator above works out your average pace and speed from a finish time and distance. The pace is the time per unit distance, and the speed is the distance divided by the time in hours.
Pace = Finish time (minutes) ÷ Distance (km)
Speed = Distance (km) ÷ (Finish time (minutes) ÷ 60)
Variables:
t = finish time in minutes
d = distance in kilometers
pace = minutes per kilometer
speed = kilometers per hour
Worked Example
Using the default values: t = 50 minutes, d = 10 km.
Pace = 50 ÷ 10 = 5.00 min/km
Speed = 10 ÷ (50 ÷ 60) = 10 ÷ 0.8333 = 12.00 km/h
The calculator shows an average pace of 5.00 min/km and an average speed of 12.00 km/h.
What the Co-Op Campaign Actually Is
When people search “Black Ops 7 co-op campaign, they usually expect a full story mode playable with a friend. That does not exist in this game. The campaign is a solo experience with branching dialogue and multiple endings, but it is strictly single-player. The co-op content is split into two separate modes:
- Strike Missions: two-player missions that reuse campaign locations but have their own objectives, like hacking terminals, defending positions, or extracting VIPs. They are not connected to the main story.
- Zombies: the classic round-based mode, playable with up to four players. It has its own narrative that continues from Black Ops 6, but it is not a campaign.
So if you want to play through a story with a friend, you will be disappointed. If you want co-op action with progression, you have Strike Missions and Zombies.
How Co-Op Progression Works
Progression in Black Ops 7 is unified across all modes. Your operator level, weapon levels, and most camo challenges carry over between multiplayer, Zombies, and Strike Missions. This means you can level up a sniper rifle in Zombies and use it in multiplayer without re-grinding.
Key elements:
- Operator Level: earns XP from any mode, unlocks loadout slots, perks, and field upgrades.
- Weapon Levels: each weapon has its own level, earned by using it. Attachments unlock at specific levels.
- Battle Pass: seasonal, progresses via XP in any mode, but does not affect gameplay.
- Zombies-specific: you also have a separate “Augment system that lets you modify perks and ammo mods, but those only apply in Zombies.
There is no separate co-op progression track. Everything feeds the same account level.
Endgame Content After the Story
Once you finish the campaign and reach max level, the endgame differs by mode:
- Strike Missions: have no matchmaking, so you need a friend. They have a “leaderboard for fastest completion and a few hidden challenges, but no endless mode.
- Zombies: the real endgame. You have the main Easter egg quest (the “story of the map), side Easter eggs, and the “Dark Ops challenges that reward calling cards. There is also a “Rift mode that increases difficulty and rewards exclusive blueprints.
- Multiplayer: prestige levels (up to 10) and ranked play. Reaching max prestige gives a special operator skin, but it does not affect co-op.
For co-op players, Zombies is the only mode with meaningful long-term goals. Strike Missions are one-and-done.
Common Problems and Misconceptions
A frequent complaint is that the game does not let you play the campaign with a friend. That is by design, not a bug. Another misconception is that Strike Missions are “campaign missions – they are not; they are separate. Players also often expect that co-op progress will be shared between players, but it is not. Each player earns their own XP and weapon levels, even if you play together.
Technical issues reported at launch include co-op connection drops and desync in Strike Missions. These are usually fixed by checking your NAT type or using a wired connection.
Comparing to Previous Black Ops Games
Black Ops 7 changes the formula. Black Ops 3 and 4 had a full 4-player co-op campaign. Black Ops Cold War had a 2-player co-op campaign. Black Ops 6 brought back the solo campaign and added Strike Missions. Black Ops 7 continues that trend, but removes the campaign co-op entirely. Zombies remains the constant co-op mode across all games.
If you are coming from Black Ops 3, you will notice the lack of a co-op story. If you are coming from Cold War, the Strike Missions feel similar but are shorter and less narrative-driven.
How to Choose What to Play
To decide what co-op content suits you:
- If you want a story with a friend – skip Black Ops 7; it does not offer that.
- If you want objective-based missions with a partner – play Strike Missions, but expect limited replay value.
- If you want a deep, long-term co-op experience – play Zombies. It has the most content and the only real endgame.
- If you want to level up fast – play Zombies on a high round; it gives the most XP per hour.
