This guide covers the different ways to share Pokémon TCG Pocket cards, including sending cards to friends, trading, and using Wonder Pick. You’ll learn what features are available, how to use them, and what to do when things don’t work as expected. Before you start, make sure you have added friends in the app and have reached the required level for trading.
What You’ll Need
- Pokémon TCG Pocket app installed and updated
- An active internet connection
- At least one friend added in the app (for sending cards)
- For trading: a friend who also has the app and meets the trade requirements
- For Wonder Pick: a friend who has played a booster pack recently
Step-by-Step
Adding Friends
- Open Pokémon TCG Pocket on your device.
- Tap your profile icon in the top-right corner of the home screen.
- Tap the “Friends tab (it looks like two person icons).
- Tap “Add Friendâ€ and enter your friend’s Friend ID (you can find your own ID at the top of this screen). Alternatively, tap “Searchâ€ and type their username.
- Send the request. Once your friend accepts, they’ll appear in your Friends list.
Sending a Card to a Friend (Gifting)
- From the home screen, tap “Cards at the bottom.
- Browse or search for the card you want to send.
- Tap the card to open its detail view.
- Tap the “Share button (usually an arrow icon or the word “Share).
- Choose “Send to Friend from the menu.
- Select the friend from your list.
- Add an optional message, then confirm. The card is sent as a gift; your friend receives it in their “Gifts section.
Trading Cards
- Ensure you and your friend have both reached level 10 (this is the current requirement for trading).
- From the home screen, tap “Social (the icon with two people).
- Select your friend from the list.
- Tap “Trade (if the option is greyed out, you may need to complete the tutorial or wait until the feature unlocks).
- Choose the card you want to offer. You can only trade cards that are not in your “Favorites and that you have more than one copy of (except for certain special cards).
- Your friend will see your offer and choose a card to trade in return.
- Once both sides have selected cards, the trade is executed. You’ll both receive the new cards.
Sharing via Wonder Pick
- Open a booster pack. After you open it, you’ll see a “Wonder Pickâ€ option.
- Tap “Wonder Pick to see a selection of packs from your friends (and other players).
- You can pick one card from a friend’s pack. This doesn’t take the card away from your friend; it’s a copy.
- To make your own packs available for friends, simply open booster packs regularly. Your friends will see your recent pulls in their Wonder Pick rotation.
Common Mistakes
- Not having enough friends: Some sharing features require you to have friends added first. Make sure you’ve added at least one friend.
- Trading before level 10: Trading is locked until you reach level 10. If you try to trade earlier, the option will be greyed out.
- Trying to trade a card you only have one copy of: You cannot trade a card that you only own one copy of, unless it’s a special promo card that is tradeable. Always check the “Tradeableâ€ badge on the card.
- Sending a card that is already in your “Favorites: Cards marked as favorite cannot be sent or traded. Remove them from favorites first.
- Expecting to send any card: Some cards, like those from special events or promo packs, may not be shareable. Look for the share icon on the card detail page.
Tips
- To get more cards to share, open booster packs daily. The more cards you have, the more you can trade or gift.
- Use the “Search function in your card list to quickly find cards you have duplicates of, which are the best candidates for trading.
- Always check the trade timer: each trade has a cooldown (currently 24 hours). Plan your trades accordingly.
- When sending a gift, add a personal message to make it more fun for your friend.
- If you’re looking for a specific card, ask your friends directly. They might have a duplicate they’re willing to trade.
- Keep your app updated. New features and improvements to sharing are added regularly.
Troubleshooting
Friend request not going through: Double-check the Friend ID. It’s case-sensitive and must be entered exactly. Also, ensure your friend hasn’t reached the maximum number of friends (currently 99).
Can’t find the “Send to Friendâ€ button: Not all cards can be sent. Only cards that have the share icon (a square with an arrow) are eligible. If you don’t see it, the card is not shareable.
Trade option is greyed out: This usually means you haven’t reached level 10 yet. Check your level by tapping your profile icon. If you are level 10 or above, try closing and reopening the app to refresh the server.
Trade fails or says “Cannot trade this cardâ€: The card might be in your favorites, or you might have only one copy. Remove it from favorites and try again. Also, ensure the card isn’t a promo or special card that is marked as non-tradeable.
Wonder Pick doesn’t show my friend’s packs: Wonder Pick rotates the available packs. Your friend’s pack may have expired (they disappear after a few hours). Ask your friend to open a new pack, and then try again.
Gift not received: Gifts are stored in the “Gifts section (the gift box icon on the home screen). Your friend might not have noticed it. Also, check that you both have a stable internet connection.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I trade any card in Pokémon TCG Pocket?
No. You can only trade cards that are marked as “Tradeable (look for the trade icon). Generally, you need at least two copies of a card to trade one, and some special cards (like promo cards) cannot be traded at all.
What is the difference between sending a card and trading?
Sending a card is a one-way gift: you give a card to a friend without receiving anything in return. Trading is a two-way exchange where both players offer a card and receive the other’s card.
How many times can I trade per day?
Currently, you can trade once per day. The cooldown resets 24 hours after your last trade.
Do I need to be at a certain level to send cards to friends?
No, sending cards (gifting) does not have a level requirement. However, trading does require you to be at level 10.
Can I send a card to a friend who hasn’t added me back?
No, you both need to be friends in the app. The friend must accept your friend request before you can send them cards.
Why can’t I see the Wonder Pick option?
Wonder Pick appears after you open a booster pack. If you haven’t opened a pack recently, the option may not be available. Also, make sure you have friends who have opened packs recently, as their packs will appear in your Wonder Pick rotation.
